Tantangel
Much like your parents and/or grandparents would reminisce about their days getting to school, what would we say to newer players "Back in my day..."? Back in my day, you didn't have the luxury of having a bar to show you on your progress on skills and spells. You hoped you'd learn from your mistakes, or say fuck it and give up. Back in my day, you didn't have mounts. You had to hoof it like a real Gnome. Back in my day, there were no feeder clans. You had to hope you were noticed to gain access to a Cabal if the Imms didn't know you wanted in to begin with.
Magick
Back in my day, there was a shade on every corner in Val Miran. When you walked through there, you walked scared! Back in my day, Rheydin wasn't blown up. You're lucky to have a new city! For that matter, Rheydin didn't exist! There was a small gnome village and people practiced on hobgoblins! You're lucky to have a city at all! Back in my day, Sirant wasn't dead. We had to worship him. And like it! Back in my day, there was no Dcheck. No cushy ranking to 30 while waiting to be approved. Speaking of 30, those were dangerous times. If you weren't becoming an undead or vampire or demon or avatar, you ranked from 25 to 35 as quickly as possible. Because there were usually three or four people who WERE and waiting for fresh meat to enter their range! Back in my day, psionicists were a normal class. And they carried bags that weighed 500 pounds! Have you ever been hit with a bag that weighed 500 pounds? No! You know how I know? You still have your LIVER and not a 500 pound bag where your liver USED to be! Back in my day, you felt like a million gold when Virigoth complimented your description. When that is, he wasn't [CODING]! Back in my day, four people knew their way through Gear. Four! And you went there in groups of six! Back in my day, healers were common and kept busy resurrecting people. Back in my day, WARMASTER held down the fort at the base of the Eridani River! And SAVANT was behind the Tombs! Back in my day, the SYNDICATE didn't exist, it was HUNTER. Back in my day, the TRIBUNAL didn't exist, it was JUSTICE! And their headquarters were in Ofcal! Back in my day, there was ??????. And you shat your pants often when they were after you! Because dysentery! Back in my day, there were people in cabals in groups of four (or more) killing off other cabal members in groups of four (or more)! Back in my day, batshit crazy invokers and dark knights's used to fireball the 15 people standing in the middle of Central Square! Nowhere was safe! Back in my day, dark knights used to cleave people IN HALF!

Fool_Hardy
Back In my da gnomes detected invisibility and magic naturally. Back in my day were beasts destroyed the world. Back In my day Storm Giant Paladins And Fire Giant Dark Knights were so weak the gods crushed their futile dreams. Back in my day bards could gouge you in the eye and make you dance like you liked it. Back in my day, players were congratulated for reaching 50, because it was NOT easy. Back in my day we called battle mages Illusionists and they were one of the strongest classes in the game.
Zhurong
Back in my day, lvl 20-30 berserkers could hit obliterates without using a vuln weapon when ranking. Back in my day, people didnt spend 90% of their time collecting consumables. Back in my day, people never bothered learning Gear or end game areas because no one single person was decked. And if they were, they were ganged to lose it all and it was divided. Back in my day, there was always someone on from every cabal at all times. Back in my day, most of the rares were used, now these rares are considered so useless, NO ONE uses them.
Aidon
Back in my day, I'd play for 400 hours and still not make it to 50. Back in my day, you could resuit in mithril and take on the biggest badasses in the game, because decked was 1-2 winter/gear pieces.
Zhurong
Back in my day, you didn't really even bother with training too much because the warfare was so intense, it didn't really matter either way.

myrek
Back in the day, you wouldn't even apply to a cabal until every skill was (nearly) mastered.

Back in my day, you had to stalk the good players' posts for years to get some useful info to play with. Back in my day, if you looked Despiser the wrong way, you would be left naked and with half a million XP hole at rank 47. Back in my day, people were still whining about EQ. Back in my day, people would spent the first 3 years of playing without even going past rank 15. And they would enjoy it.
Dale
Got any spares? Was a common phrase. Where pk was a useful command. Even groups were not safe together in the vampire tombs. Vials were the only source of sanc anyone used. Ninjas had cool alias' set up for their assassinations. Imms would take skills away permanently for not engaging in their RP they way they wanted. Oh and no one trained, if parry and shieldblock was mastered you were FULLY TRAINED and ready for 50. Shamans were one of the hardest classes to survive against. The name Poplin carried fear into the hearts of all.
Zhurong
People actually used the elixir that made you invisible, because no one could get detect invis.

Zhurong
Also, I remember when there would be like 30 people in each city, everyone would be chillin, then BAM out of no where someone gets assassinated in front of a huge crowd and everyone scatters like cockroaches. Dale
If a DK asked you for help at the centaur camp and you showed up it spelled certain doom. And if you didn't start warning people he would get three or four more hapless morons as well.
Zhurong
When you first started playing and people brought you to the room right below the bumpkin in Emerald Forest and you didnt know there was a door to open to escape. Or you put people to sleep and summoned them inside there. Ha. Yeah.
