This is an extract from the personal diary of Rear-Admiral Sir George Cockburn as he brought Napoleon Bonaparte to St. Helena after Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.  It's recently made the rounds on the History subreddit, and I thought I'd share it here as well.  I've only read the first few pages as I'm already overdue for bed, but I find such first-hand accounts of major historical figures fascinating, and I suspect at least a few others here might as well.
