I would post a history, but Kotrag didn't have one. And here is why:

Before I rolled Kotrag, I played another character or two, who had to fight some of the new ninjas right after their rework. I found them pretty OP, so I went to prayer forum with nerf suggestion, but the IMMs were, "Nah, we did tests. It's working as intended". After many arguments, I decided to roll one and prove it. And so the first nerfs happened, and then again and again.

Back then there were many ninjas, but three stood out the most: Nictis (avian DS watcher played by the Nightmare), Cenlar (feral LS watcher played by Tassin) and Kotrag, who was uncaballed at that time. When the nerfs happened, Nictis stopped playing. Cenlar reverted to DS and later on stopped playing too.

Since I had achieved my goal, I was planning to stop playing myself, but I found logging into Kotrag more than my other "main" character. I managed to get into Syndicate being asked to collect 3 bounties (Karishin - the WM leader at that time, Nictis, who was Trusted in watcher at that time, and another Trusted Gladiator).

Once in Syndicate, stuff got serious and Lisko pushed me pretty hard to RP. So did Anume. Syndicate was in pretty bad spot after Belderon, with all our bounty offices blocked. Lisko managed to get one unblocked through RP and then was pushing me to roll with her plot, but she was inactive and I had a different plan.

For half an year I was RPing my ass off, trying to get as many allies as possible for the Val Miran siege, while in the meantime trying to document the movements of the "feral army". I would go into details here, but since the plot's outcome is still undecided, I will keep them to myself.

I RPed with many, many people. I am a firm believer that one's RP should be a tangible, real thing, carried out in a way that others can interact with. Which is why I have so little journal entries.

Some characters which I would like to give mad props to are:

1. Ivesianna - Whatever I say about your character will not be enough. You started out as a total noob. I've never in my entire career here seen a character grow so much, RP and PK wise. Before Kotrag I actually played an elf avatar BLM in praet and I know every single hardship and annoyance you had to face with the character. Ivesianna is a TRUE good aligned character. Honestly I've never seen an Avatar played so well, and through all the times I've kept out an ear on you, you never slipped, even once.

2. Viruthx - I believe the player behind Viruthx is the best RPer the game currently has. Couple that with the fact that he's a pretty decent PKer, and you end with a player that's a very valuable, albeit most of the time very biased, player. From the moment you entered cartel I knew I had fun times with you ahead, and you didn't disappoint. The way you incorporated your RP with my plots was superb. I wanted to leave you one more final gift before departing, but I honestly couldn't get myself to write anything at this point.I hope I am wrong, but I feel that you are suffering from the same apathy towards the game as I currently am.

3. MR X and MR Y - I won't go into details here due to obvious reasons, but I am pretty sure you two know who you are. Due to the extremely slow progress of the plot, I was many times on the brink of giving up. In key moments one of you would pop up, boost my morale and inspire me to continue. Sadly, you can only do that as many times.... I've been thinking of leaving for a very long time now, but I wanted to clean my debts to you two before doing so. I think I managed to do it.

Why do I leave?

Because the only thing I feel towards the game right now is Apathy. I could muse on the reason(s) for this very apathy, but honestly, noone's going to gain anything from that.

I will still keep browsing the forums, most likely, because I am sure one day, the game will find its way back to my heart, as it always has.

Kotrag was a great character, many props.

I felt that apathy, and tried a bit to push you  to finish things, but I couldn't get through to you. Maybe for the best to take a break.

As to longevity, I think Kotrag is close to your demon dk if he's not surpassed him. You've managed to move a lot in the mud with this guy, and influenced a lot of characters and even the mud environment.

Was sad to see him go but understand it may be for the best.

I only barely interacted with Kotrag in game, as I've not been willing/able to devote the time needed for a solid character for most of Kotrag's existence... but even despite that this character was intimidating because of what I saw others say in-game and on the forums.  I can't speak to specifics due to limited knowledge, but when it comes to a character casting a shadow over the entire game for months on end?  DAMN, dude.  Nicely done.

Only strong because of the ash covered cloak. 😛

Seriously though, Kotrag was a fun character to see kicking ass. And on top of that you had some solid RP to back it up. One of your best and your first Leader so congrats my man. Time for your other “main” to move up chain of command?

I think a lot of people only got to see the insanely scary PK side of Kotrag. What most never saw was the great RP behind behind it.  I am pretty sad to see this character go but understand how you feel. I have a lot more to say but it is best I leave it at this.

Great character!

I've always said that once a character becomes stale or you feel that apathetic feeling, then its time to go. You're not contributing anything to the game at that point and you're hampering others from achieving what you have achieved.

There's a thin line between being a long lived, contributing character and a character that is just "around". There have been characters in the past that stayed around long, long, long past their prime and influence, but it can be difficult to delete a character when you've worked so hard to achieve what you have. It takes a strong player to step back and look at the character and make the tough move.

Unless they're personal reasons I disagree.

If the reasons stem from the game or some particular behavior then the only way nothing will be gained is if you keep quiet.

I don't think I've hated any character as much as Kotrag, well done.

I knew it was you, it made sense in some ways. Kotrag was a beast on so many levels. At one point in time I rolled a DS Ninja to show people it was the skill of the player and not the path itself, but my mind kept going in different directions and it takes me a while sometimes to figure out what I want. The longevity of the character was immense and quite frankly the only character I dreaded when I had a bounty and usually always around right when I needed a hand in picking a lockbox. You've definitely come a very long ways since I last played, and quite frankly, you deserve the break if it has finally gotten to you. I know lately I have felt that same feeling with many of my characters, and I finally found something I like. Come back in a month or so if you feel up to it and try something else. Ignore the Forum for about a month  as well. It was one of the best things I've done when I first came back before returning to the Forum.
