Pali
Any thoughts from those who have seen it? Edit: SPAM TO KEEP ANYTHING FROM SHOWING IN THE SIDEBAR SPAM TO KEEP ANYTHING FROM SHOWING IN THE SIDEBAR SPAM TO KEEP ANYTHING FROM SHOWING IN THE SIDEBAR SPAM TO KEEP ANYTHING FROM SHOWING IN THE SIDEBAR SPAM TO KEEP ANYTHING FROM SHOWING IN THE SIDEBAR SPAM TO KEEP ANYTHING FROM SHOWING IN THE SIDEBAR (I tried, doesn't seem to have worked) I enjoyed it a great deal, though it certainly is not without flaws; the casino planet was definitely the low point in my mind, though it did serve the purpose of giving us a Rose-Finn adventure and provide Finn his own question to answer for this movie (does he follow his TFA impulse of running away and vanishing, or does he pick a side to fight for even though no one is entirely clean here?). My favorite part was definitely the entire scene with Rey, Ren, Snoke, and the Red Guards (who I suspect were the Knights of Ren mentioned in TFA, though clarification would've been nice) - Snoke's death was wonderfully anti-climatic and led into one of my favorite action scenes in all Star Wars, and I loved that Ren wasn't actually turning good here but instead was cementing his place on the dark side; it served, to me, as an inspired reversal of Luke vs Vader in front of the Emperor in RotJ, with the dark sider turning on his master without turning from the dark side as previous movies would lead us to expect (and even the earlier scene where Ren does not kill Leia - though I think she should have died when the other TIEs blew her into space, as Kylo deciding not to kill her then her dying anyways because of an attack he was part of would've been a great character beat for him and a solid way for Leia to die). Yeah, I've had a few drinks, so the above's a bit rambling (edit: upon re-reading, holy run-on sentence Pali). Short version: I liked it a lot, and on a single viewing would put it in the 8.5-9 range; TFA I give an 8.25, Rogue 1 a 9.25, so I think it solidly in the middle of the modern movies and a worthy entry in the franchise. aaa
. . . . . . . . . . I think I would of enjoyed it more if Rey wasn't such a mary sue. Though I guess they tried to address this by saying that her strength increased to counterbalance Ren but it seems a bit of a cop out. The character of Poe is extremely unlikable at least in my opinion though I did much prefer the cast of Rogue one compared to the main storyline films. I feel like the time spent on the casino planet could of been shortened to allow more time for some character development for Rey, and her training segment could of been done much better. It's implied that she was on that island training for some time but when compared to the Luke/Yoda parallel, I found it hard to keep my suspension of disbelief. I wish Snoke did something? He seems a little under utilized in a somewhat similar way to Darth Maul. As soon as Snoke said something about Ren fulfilling his destiny, I knew he'd get betrayed. I was surprised they didn't kill off Leia, I was already starting to notice how she wasn't sharing many scenes with other people so I wonder how they'll do finding enough footage for another movie. I still liked the movie, I just wish it was better.

Trick
It was okay. It was no where near as great as people are spouting it to be on all the review sites. 80% of the movie accomplished nothing and it all happened the way it was going to regardless of what anyone did. If you watch the beginning and then the end, you'd have missed nothing except a bunch of "side-quests" that essentially amounted in nothing as they all failed. Casino planet? Failed. Phasma? Quickly defeated. Ending fight? Not there. Rey and Ren's little fight scene was the best part, but still lacking. Luke's death? Very plain. For such a huge character he goes out so passively. Snoke's death? See Luke's death. Overall I think it was a very mediocre movie.
Zavero
. . . . . Spoilers: I really enjoyed the movie but I felt like it could have been so much more. It was as if the writer never watched the original trilogy. Leia should have died in space where she was floating, frozen in time. It would have made more sense and been more of an impact at the sudden loss of a main character in my opinion. While I enjoyed the force scenes between Kylo and Rey, the writer made the force near limitless while using it for drama. Honestly, if ghost Yoda could force lightning a tree why couldn't he send a bolt right into Snoke's ass? I have more complaints but it would be adding to an already long post. As I said I enjoyed it but it was a missed opportunity.
