Didnt that +20% chance to land critical strikes get nerfed to 10%?

It did, yes.  Which made it go from "always landing except maybe when the moons align" to "there's a small chance to miss" as I understand it.

Nerfed sounds negative.

Maybe balanced would be a more prudent verb?

That's because nerf is negative.

Shall we call it a non-positive increase instead?

Doesn't matter how you spin it.

Balanced actually would be the most positive spin to it for everyone except those currently playing an Elf/Drow BLM. In their case it is the same as reading as nerf where as the player of Skree sees it more as, "SKREEEEEEE!" or maybe even getting the hell out of dodge with, "RUN AWAY!" now that he will be able to flee a little easier without an almost guarantee of the lag strikes landing.

@Tantangel critical strikes always landing on BLMs was quite OP indeed. I think I've reported it once or twice in the past myself back when I played Kotrag.

It's pretty annoying to see every single critical land when you have 24 dex and -600 AC.

So yes, I would say it's a balance change, and not a nerf. Drow/elf BLMs are strong enough as it is to not need such a huge perk.

It's both, if we want to be pedantic.  It was nerfed to balance.

The term "nerfing" comes from the online gaming world of Ultima Online.
At one point in the game, the developers reduced the power of swords in melee combat.
This resulted in players complaining that it was like they were hitting each other with nerf bats, not swords.
From then on, if ever something gets made less worth while than it had been originally, it is considered 'nerfed.'

So yeah, a reduction in power.  Nothing more.

Does this mean that things can be nerfed out of balance?  Yes.
Does this mean things can be nerfed into balance?  Double yes.

Similarly to buff doesn't mean that it's now overpowered.  It could have been lacking that it needed an increase to bring it (closer) to balance.
