sixfeetunder
can someone answer me a quick question about races and aging (i'm in china right now and can't really get on reliably). do elves suffer the effects of aging penalties (i think no but i am unsure) do half-elves suffer the effects (i think yes, but again...unsure)
Warpnow
I was under the impression that all races are affected by aging...maybe I'm wrong, though.
Chayesh
All races are affected by aging. Not all races age similarly.
sixfeetunder
ah...i see. thanks for that answer. i'll start figuring out what i want to do with this character idea then based on that.
Marc
I'm sure someone said that a character gets the effect of aging when they get to about 75% age. So with an elf even if you start at 50% (1000 years old) you'd need to age 500 years before you get the effects of aging. since 1 year in aabahran is 3 days RL you'd have to keep your character from deleting for 1500 days or about 4 years to get him to age. Any comments on inaccuracies will be welcome.
Valforian
hmmmmm... anyone know who the oldest human was ever?
Chayesh
Methuselah. Oh...in FL. Shaw perhaps? Either that one of Behrens' many creations.
KRins
IRL? 125 and 7 months I think I read once... could be wrong.
Behrens
As I recall, Leomyre was the oldest human that kept PKing and in active cabal rotation. Luqin gave him a title like "aged servant of the crown". I don't remember exactly.
Pieman
Leomyre was the shiznit, I dunno, I'm partially derailing this thread to give him a PieMan style hi 5. Def one of my favorite char ever, and one that I actually looked up to with a few chars.
mya
Old ages system was based on Online time and not creation date. With the new age system your elf will get old, but i would be more worried about autodelete. That is the plague of ages to elves. At least mine. This is why im relutant to even play Halfling as they only double of humans, at least with elfs you got a big buffer. Ask the IMP to FREEZE your Half-elf in the cold locker. That way he does not ages, i think or deletes.
Behrens
We only freeze characters if there is a compelling RL reason to do so. Getting deployed is the most recent one that has worked for us. It won't happen just for the fun of it. Your character will not be affected by rare-purges, aging, or auto-deletion if he is frozen.
sixfeetunder
well...i was looking at this for the ideas of how old my character should be based on his story. several races could have worked, but if elves 50% age is 1000 yrs then that will be perfect for the idea. now to just finish putting it together and see if i can play it sometime this year. and no way would i ever look for a freeze. i'd rather just delete the character and let the rares circulate for the rest of the pbase. Fiere
You'd probably lose your rares before getting frozen.
