Koal vs Ivesianna

Difference is the renown disarm is automatic and doesn’t lag the user.

Haymaker can be blocked and create two rounds of lag where the recipient can get away.

Dispel can be saved and lags the caster.

Both haymaker and dispel can land and not take down essential skills/spells.

Firstly, this should have a chance to fail.  My guess is that it does fail and you just don't see the in-game message, but Erelei would have to confirm.

If it doesn't currently fail, perhaps the chance for it to work should be somewhat based on the amount of PK kills since your last pdeath. Something akin to evil cleric path damage.  Because obviously a Knight who is dying a lot, or died recently, is not going to cause someone to be "Filled with terror" as easily.

I think its the cursed weapon being disarmed with no lag, and apparently mid round, that is the concern.  Haymaker still lags the zerk.  Dispel still costs a round.  And both can be saved against, and are quite often.  It is a curious discussion, not really on a side myself.  Simply clarifying why comparing it to haymaker and dispel is a bit off.

It can and it does fail.

A black dragon's poisoned bite scratches you.
A black dragon rears and breathes a cloud of poisonous fumes!
Your flame devastates Ivesianna!
Ivesianna weaves out of your attack.
Your flame hits a black dragon.
Your flame MUTILATES Ivesianna!
A Gruesome Mask comes to life, twisting into a look of pure evil and terror!
Ivesianna is already cowering in fear.
You feel scared for a second.
You block Ivesianna's attack with your weapon.
You block Ivesianna's attack with your weapon.
A necklace possessing a flawless sphere glimmers with a divine intensity.
You dodge the Vanguard's attack.
You block the Vanguard's attack with your weapon.
Ivesianna has quite a few wounds.

When you see that message, that's the skill firing, but failing to cause your weapon to fall from terror.

You yell 'Help! I am being attacked by Ivesianna!'
Filled with terror, your weapon slips through your slippery fingers.
Ivesianna's divine power mauls you.

Spell: fear           : for 1 hours

Did we just figure out that this skill relies on the fear affect (lasting 2 ticks) and can be countered with mental saves...?

I wasn't comparing it directly to dispel or haymaker, just that it was in the same boat with the person on the receiving end having to be focused and pay attention.

I don't have any huge issues with the skill itself, it is an Elder cabal skill so it should be a reasonable buff to the user.

Ulmusdorn made a pretty good suggestion if it had to be changed though.

What if like a crusader it pushed your weapon aside instead of the full disarm?

That seems alot more fair compared to how it works now. I'm assuming it wouldn't lag the Knight E for those 2 rounds. But would the effect also work for one round only?

With a possible tone I kinda feel like Praetorian Styles should be buffed a tiny bit more. Maybe a slightly increased landing rate and one round lag on the  strikes that cause the suckier effects.

This skill is the most OP Elder skill in the game. It's so OP that I've tried rolling Knights for it. Too bad goodie cabals are so boring :(

The funny thing is that maelstrom's synergy with dragon stance was deemed OP and changed, yet this exists. And for maelstrom you had to actually input a command, while this happens automatically. It's a lovely skill I must admit. Completely broken and OP, and it's been such for long long time. It's sad that we need strong characters for the IMMs to "notice" such things though.

In all these logs the fire giants barely get hit when wielding a weapon, perhaps that needs looking at too?

Isn't that largely the case due to blinded melee vs non-blinded melee?

Partially.  The 115-120 that a FG gets from a 2h fire weapon helps a lot there, too.
