Charmed Creatures Being IMMUNE To Charm

Recommended Posts

co 'isolate' necromancer
A zombie ignores your attempt.

My last 15 casts of isolate there have been 3 resisted attempts and 12 ignores. The ignores are an immunity where on a charmed creature (regardless of how it was charmed) is still a charmed creature that is immune to charm.

There is really nothing a cleric can do to a necromancer especially with pets on tap. Ive mentioned the lack of usefulness of this spell in the past because it never lands, it sucks being an opener only but with capped defenses a cleric cant really stay in battle with a necro anyways.

IMO for the sake of gameplay mechanics creatures immune to charm shouldnt be charmed, they should have a resistance at best.

Isolate still sucks, but it would be nice to see it pop an unkillable zombie once in a while.

Chester's last Savant demon cleric used to isolate my last necro's (Grezath, before the necro changes) best zombies (yes, the level 52 ones) quite frequently with +2 spell level.  Then there was a Trib cleric who also did it albeit not as often as Rapacialant did.  It got so frustrating I refused to go after cleric bounties for a while.

With the changes, I don't see it being anywhere near as much of a problem.

Isolate used to check the pet master for mental saves, which Illithiad have a resistance.
Isolate not working on some pets is awful. Specially since the pets that used to be hard to get, Necro Zombies, no longer are hard to get.
Some Rangers pet used to have this problem, Beastmasters, I think.
You can view vulns/resistances with a bard. At least you could, last bard I played, provided the pet isn't higher level than the bard.

If you can't isolate, you can (or could) summon them.
