Deykari
England have been knocked out. After 120+ minutes of play against Portugal, still 0-0, we went to penalties. And anyone who knows even a little about English football knows how things go when it comes to England and penalties. I probably won't be around FL for a few years whilst I recouperate from the shock. Dey

TheNewGuy
I saw the game, and all I can say it that the red cards was REALLY stupid by Rooney. Anger management, man, anger management.
Deykari
I honestly don't think Rooney's stop was intentional (worthy of a red card yes, but not intentional), but I do think his..anger afterwards was uncalled for. On the replay he was pushing a few of the Portugese. Dey
TheNewGuy
He got the card for saying something bad to the ref, not for the stomp, i think. Otherwise he would have gotten it earlier. The stomp didn't look intetional. And shouldn't be red.
H&R
yeah, feel sorry for England. They played better even when they were one man short.
Deykari
I'll be honest, as much as I love and wanted our team to win, we just didn't really perform well in all of our games this Cup. I mean, we pretty much scraped our way through all of our wins. Dey
KRins
Rooney got his red card for the shove after one of Portugal's player was coming over to convince the ref to give him a red card. After he shoved the other player, the ref was bound by FIFA rules to give him the red. England wasn't playing great soccer the entire tournament, and while I agree they were the better team that day against Portugal, they did it to themselves. Sirax
The red card was a joke, and all in all it had been one of the most successful and enjoyable world cups for some time, yet ruined by some absoultely baffling decisions. As for Rooney the stomp was not deliberate and the ref should have blown up earlier for the foul comitted on rooney. Then when that tosser Cristano Ronaldo came over to try and get him sent off rooney gets the card for a slight push, complete joke. And yes I know you are not to raise your hands but it is a competitive game and some common sense should be used. And yes i agree England did not play well at all, but to be robbed again by Portugal is very hard to stomach. Im going to be reading the papers in the hope that Rooney lamps Ronaldo when they get back to the Manchester Utd training ground. Oh well at least Sven will be gone, i just pray Maclaren knows how to use the talented squad he has at his disposal.
Deykari
Im going to be reading the papers in the hope that Rooney lamps Ronaldo when they get back to the Manchester Utd training ground. There is going to be some DEFINATE tension back at Utd. grounds. :D Dey
TheNewGuy
Ronaldo will go to real madrid anyway. and I still say Rooney got his card for saying something to the ref. he said something after the push, and then the ref reacted and threw out the card. saying the wrong thing to the ref can warrant red, if it is really bad. a tiny little push cannot. Kyzarius
The cards in this world cup have just been out of control, even on fouls that when you look at replay were just dives. ITs disgusting the level of influence the referees have with the new card rules.
TheNewGuy
i'd say it is good that they take cards when needed. and there has been a lot less cheap free kicks than in champions league etc the latest years. But... MORE CARDS FOR OBVIOUS DIVINGS! damn. I hate them.... and worst of all. the fifa president knows about as much about football as my grandma does
Kyzarius
Thats the catch, when needed...you have player in interviews discussing how they feel they have to back down aggresivley and some of them are timid to the fact that the ref's can drop yellow cards for what used to be not even a remotly cardable offence. but hey, fifa are the imm's of soccer

TheNewGuy
italy. they weren't even among the favourites, which means not the usual pressure. (though still a lot of it.) and they are hard to beat. and Klose has scored his goals now. time for lucky luke luca toni.... but heck, it is impossible to say. all four is about as good as their opponents. KRins
If I had to pick a team that I honestly thought was gonna win that lost already, it would be Argentina. I still have no idea what the coach was thinking using all of his subs and not putting in the next great superstar Messi. If I had to pick the team that will win it, I have to give it to the Italians. Buffon is a complete and total as***le but he and the backline are playing pretty solid.
