Alexander/Dallus/Grayyg

Hey folks,

I know some of you may not have been around long enough to remember this. Alexander was the first IMM on FL to lead the WARMASTER cabal. He was a friend of both Viri and I from Abandoned Realms, where he went by Dallus and Grayyg. When Viri and I founded FL, he came over with us to help get everything fired up.

He passed away a couple of years ago from a heart condition. I didn't know, Viri didn't know, none of us knew until recently, but I wanted the community to know and offer some respect. He was a great guy, a great player, and he leaves a wife behind. She wanted us all to know, so this is me telling you.

Unless I'm mistaken, he crafted the Underdark.  So when you're all running away from me through there, just pause there to honor him!

Hah, well his wife remembers differently. I think we can let it slide   Anytime I sit down to think about the tenure of this game...it's baffling that so many of us are still around. Nice to have you poke your head in from time to time, I think even Viri rolled something for a brief moment a couple years ago.  So much has changed, some for good some for bad, but a lot of relationships/friendships were forged from the fires of Aabahran and those will live on long after this MUD has died.

Damn. I remember when I started playing AR, Dallus was my hero. I ran around with his at the time gf who played a human DK named Siouxie (sp? It has been so long) quite a bit learning the game.

To be fair, the Underdark was my idea, and we laid out 200-300 vnums, so there's a high likelihood he assisted me at some point. I just know I dug the rooms all out. He could have very well done many of the mobs and descriptions.

I was around back then but didn't play anything of note until later ages.  Made some friends...love seeing the old pics and seeing so many people around still.  Still the greatest ever for RP in my opinion.  Nothing has ever touched this MUD's golden ages for RP.  Remember 40-60 online on any given night.  Remember Crypt running around as a bottle labeled "Drink me".  Remember IMMs being awesome and taking control of Tiamat or talking to you from inside wells and crap.  Great memories!

I think we all stick around holding onto nostalgia and somehow hoping maybe one day it will return to it's former glory, but kids these days just are not buying into the text-based stuff and as adults now we just don't have the time like we used to, most of us anyway. From 8am-5pm I see on average about 4 people online, including my toon.  The good moments are great, still...but they are few and far between. Days like today seeing old faces, chatting up memories...those are the highlights now. Cheers to you all

I could be persuaded.  Will definitely be jumping on Discord though.  How weird it will be to hear everyone's voices for once.  The only person I believe I've ever actually spoken to is Malchaeius.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that about Alex. I actually joined Alex and was an IMP on his mud he spun up after FL (don't recall the name, possibly shadowbox?). Unfortunately nothing ever came of it and I didn't get to really keep in touch with Alex, but appreciated the moments I was able to share getting to know him and his wife briefly.

Great to see you guys (Crypt and Chayesh) still hanging around and hope you will continue to contribute to the community, maybe even roll up a character!

Firstly, RIP Alexander.

Secondly, I am really curious on hearing how this MUD came to life from @Crypticant. I think we've all read Viri's side of the story, so if he's willing to share his, it would be great. Perhaps in a different thread though?
