  You stand before the Great Chasm. Looking below you see the ground fall
away thousands of feet. A river runs in the bottom of the Chasm, and
heads eastward at a good pace. There seems to be no feasible way of
entering the canyon from here, anyway. A large spring bubbles up from
the ground here, and pours over the edge of the Chasm with a liquid
splatter. It runs clean and clear like any mountain spring.
Northward, another large canyon, what must be an extension off of
the Great Chasm, is chiseled into the earth.

No malform weapon or is it edited out? Pretty sure that bright aura indicates he's an avatar, which is a juicy kill for your weapon. 

Ogre stuck around way to long, those energy drains, the curse, the plague, being in the middle of the canyon spells out death. Unless he's got some avatar juice to spend, he's not going anywhere.
