mya
Healers are indeed boring. Druids are a lot more interesting. Or clerics. Also that "guide" is a bit outdated with new changes, HSM.

Twinblades713
Healers are able to go on nearly all adventures safely without a cabal by themselves. Herald or Merchant (Not sure if healers can be Merchant) will help with adventuring regardless of race/class.

Tantangel
@KassietiI think it should honestly be open to all races/classes for Merchant which is why I still think it should switch to a Herald subCabal specifically because of that reason, but that's just my opinion. @Ryl Healer in Herald at Trusted would make them unstoppable in every way possible. I've played them for ~1500 hours with all of mine combined, but ~1200 was on just one in particular. If she wants to PK though, stick with Cleric as they're really strong and easy to survive with. You kind of got hit with a time with those particular Savants were still hitting their peak powers unfortunately for you, especially as a new player coming in to try to learn how PK works again in a new MUD altogether. Pretty damned ballsy by pretty much any standards. I feel we're pretty open compared to what we used to be in part due to the world we live in changing so rapidly as well, and the Imms we have now think differently than the ones who began the game entirely too. Change is good overall, albeit scary at times. We all offer different knowledge on different classes. Check out the guide to who's who for asking for help. @Kyzarius and I don't always see eye to eye on really anything when it comes to changes about things as we both go in opposite directions on it, but he's damned good at giving advice on PK for various classes and @Trick is pretty good too. @tassinvegeta is great with DKs if you do go down that path and even Ninjas. We have a small base, but that gives you a slight idea how quickly you'll excel at PK considering once you defeat those guys regularly you'll find yourself being that go to type of person too. Just keep pushing though, you're not doing too bad considering. You can always try using a depressant of sorts if you really wanted to to slow down the shakes, but it would slow down your reactions too. Once you get comfortable with your class, the shakes usually subside in time, but even when I'm jumped when I'm not prepared I start getting them, and your first mistake is usually getting jumped first. Mine come and go, but I've also been playing since 2001 around the time of the Shade Invasion, but I've taken a few years worth of breaks between too when I get busy with real life and such. Keep up what you're doing though.
Fool_Hardy
Con death is the cure. I never get the shakes when someone attacks me. I only get them when I am chasing aka off my guard aka out of my element. The boy scouts taught us to be always prepared. I know how to run, better than most. I can check my affects and do what is necessary. When chasing, I get lulled into overconfidence. Knowing that "that" can and will likely happen gives me the shakes. Get comfortable. Whatever that takes. Get comfortable and you will lose the shakes. And no matter what, do NOT worry about losing your equipment. Expect it, expect to go get it again. Players here for the most part are classy, they may loot you, but will not turn around and kill you again while your requiping. Again, for the most part. Grim_Reefer
Don’t fear the reaper. Once you get used to the back and forth of pk, the whole experience will start to slow down. When you first start off, that text comes fast and can cause you to freeze up a bit or jumble your thinking. Just remember to BREATHE.

You gotta learn to cope with the adrenaline rush. If you're shaking run off until you get your shit together so you don't make mistakes and reengage. More pk interaction will help but like I said that's half the fun! This is what brought me back. Mmm Coffee
If you change your mindset about PK from "I have everything to lose" to "I have so much to learn in this PK log" -- and then actually read the log, over time you will become less focused on the PK event itself and more focused on sticking to a game plan that you've learned from reading all those mistakes in logs. That's how i got over the feeling. Also, there's nothing wrong with having brief skirmishes if you aren't super confident just to test the waters and make sure you can escape successfully. Learning to PK is really about learning to live. That all said, I play this game in 2-4 month sprints about once a year so every time I come back, those first few fights are riddled with nerves. I agree with most of this, except the last two sentences. Most of the how you prepare depends upon your equipment depending upon the class you play so you do need to somewhat worry about losing it and plan for that with spares in your locker. As far as most people here being classy, that is true. Except, this is the problem with a low player base. Sure, one classy vet might not kill you again quickly, but there may be four others just itching to fight someone different than the decked people they have been facing. So, you may die five times before you are actually able to get your equipment back up to standard. So, plan to have spare equipment in your locker that gives you basic protections that can at least give you a buffer long enough to run away. I couldn't have said it better. This is exactly my thoughts. Every fight you are going to learn something new, and THAT'S what is exciting. The nerves pretty much go away and the only time they might come in microwaves is when you are trying a new class or something you haven't done in a while and your about to jump into your first engagement to collect some useful data.
