myrek
my only concerns are how long does the battery last, how easy is it to change, and what can cause it to fire. with present firearms, you may have issues that make it not fire, but you won't have an issue that makes it spontaneously fire. elfdude
that video doesn't really explain too well the drawbacks of the weapon, though they are very few, one of the main issues I see is the need for large amounts of ammo, three bullets in one shot? you'd run out of ammo pretty quick. myrek
good point... it is a lot of ammunition to waste on a miss. troops are still troops and they generally miss.
EyeSeeU
Ever see the assault rifle that can angle at its end near the barrel so you can fire it around corners without compromising your body to dip out from behind the wall your hiding? I think that is pretty cool aswell... it also has a camera on the end of it near the barrel that feeds into a display screen at the top of the gun where your holding it. J.Twendrist
my only concerns are how long does the battery last' date=' how easy is it to change, and what can cause it to fire. with present firearms, you may have issues that make it not fire, but you won't have an issue that makes it spontaneously fire.[/quote'] Actualy guns can fire by accident and it is rather frequent. If you are around them long enough you will see discharges that wern't suppose to happen. Whether the hammer wasn't closed right, or it was dropped, or something with the mechanisims screw up... many variables. Thats why you always keep 'em pointed down range. Well folks, thats my safety lesson for today.
myrek
the only positive firing malfunction I have ever seen is a run away and you still have to pull the trigger to start it.
J.Twendrist
Having it go off unexpectedly is not positive... infact it is very very bad.
J.Twendrist
Say... if a bullet was half way in the chamber... and it got jostled and it went all the way in... with the primer grazing the hammer... all of a sudden BAM and if it isn't pointed down range someones likely to get shot. myrek
by "positive" malfunction, I am referring to a malfunction where something happens as opposed to a malfunction where nothing happens.
Psycho Child
The spring retainer can break causing the bolt to go forward and cause its own runaway (Only on open bolt weapons). I've heard about the metal storm before, it is one of many shiny toys out there that will wind up in the hands of criminals and sociopaths long before it ever makes it to where its supposed to go. And I'm still waiting for my Mechs damn it.
