Standard stats on eq

Hi guys,

I'm still trying to learn the lands and the equipment, asking questions in game (thanks to all who've been helpful) but I wanted to ask here - what would be the stats of a really well equipped char in terms of hit/dam, ac and saves. I'm looking mostly toward warrior type characters (warr, zerk, ran).

I remember way back in 2.0 when playing a fire zerk WM I had around 45 hit/dam and -30 svs and that was with top gear and with that I could hold my own against pretty much everyone. I have a feeling these numbers have increased now, but by how much?

Thanks for all answers

You can hold your own against pretty much everyone now too, with such stats, as long as you have a proper plan of action in your head.

Always have one. Always put yourself in the place of your enemy and try to kill yourself, the go back to your own character and try to survive  and counter it.

For example if you face a thief, you need brews, bound backpacks, sanctuary sources that are INSIDE those backpacks (not glimmerings) and somewhat good mental saves.

If you are facing a heavy melee and you play a class that can be lagged (i.e. another melee) you can rarely do much, but try to boost your AC as much as possible. This can be easily done by some key gear pieces (that are not rare and can be carried inside backpacks) and consumables. Don't use berserk unless last resort survival option.

If you are facing a mage try to get the save gear for the respective mage class, but do not forsake hit/dam. No matter how much you resist their spells, you are not a threat unless you output damage, and if you are not a threat they will wear your consumables down and win even if they don't kill you.

As a conclusion, gear plays huge role, tactics play even bigger. If your gear is mediocre, superb tactics can balance that out and on the other hand if your gear is supreme you can afford to be a bit less strict about your tactics (which is how big guys usually fall). On some classes of course the balance between the two is a bit more skewed toward each one - take BLM-Warrior for example where BLMs rely much less on EQ quality and much more on tactics.

Hope that helps a bit, if you have any more specific questions feel free to PM.

Thanks, it helps quite a lot (not only as game advice but even more as a moral booster!) ;)

I like what you're saying, back in the day when I could PK I was a master tactician and winning against the odds was the biggest satisfaction. Besides relearning the items I'm also relearning the classes (many of them with completely new skills/abilities than from what I remember) and analysing the PK logs, looks like it's even more important.

Really depends on your class and your enemy.  50/50 is best before you hit diminishing returns but harder to get now.  You'll have to sacrifice a lot of hit/dam to stack saved now but it can be worth it say your fighting an invoker and need to cover your mental dispel vuln.  Test your saves in battle.  Trial and erroring you'll see a difference.  Review logs and accumulate data.
