Ninjas consistently hit harder, and more often, under the same circumstances as dedicated melee characters with less eq. In that log kittori had 38 damage roll, and was consistently hitting for caps through sanc. He's also throwing out 4 to 6 attacks very very often.

@Rygothran I am sorry Rygo, I go by the information I get provided with. Trick claims he is fighting a raged fire giant who is decked while he himself is naked, but it turns out that he is fighting non-raged mino zerker who is only modestly dressed while he himself is decked.

This is why I don't like commenting on logs that provide so little actual information. I mean, I don't think Trick lied intentionally, but in his mind ninjas are so OP, that his brain itself creates scenarios that support his claim. If he was actually to read his log with a critical view, he would find himself that he won so decisively only becuase 1) He played well 2) His opponent didn't and 3) He had EQ advantage.

Did you even read the log I linked. This ninja had no combat buffs, and clearly basic eq but was beating on agmeel. You are the one ignoring arguments. Ninjas dominating melee combat in sub par eq vs straight melee classes without using most of their bag of tricks. What else do you need to see. A ds ninja winning with 20 20 hit dam

Okay, first of all @f0xx, you’re so beyond arrogant that it’s not even funny. Don’t speak to Rygo and flame me. I don’t understand why you are even able to post anymore following your constant flames. It’s like the IMMs just ignore it..

Second of all, when I get a chance tomorrow I’ll post the log I was trying to post where the zerk got off a gang and managed to heavily loot and I capped him from cabal outfit.

First of all, @Trick, that was not a flame. I was trying to come up with a logical explanation for the large discrepencies betweem your claims and the actual facts. If you want to address and explain them, please do so.

You said he was a fire giant and he wasn't.

You said he was raged, and he wasn't.

You said he had huge EQ advantage, and he didn't.

I appreciate the respect and I've usually agreed with you on just about everything PK and often tout you as one of the best here, but your tone of voice in your posts towards others is what I find unacceptable. I stand by what I said in those posts that if you cannot articulate yourself in a more respectful manner, then you don't deserve to be posting here. I am tired of it. I don't have a warped perspective about ninjas. I have fought many and even played as one. I think they have far too great of an output given their survival tools. With vanish, hide, and acupuncture coupled with that offensive and defensive ability, it makes the class unbalanced.

@Tarako, the person who posted these very logs talks to me constantly and we exchange experience non-stop. You know what he said after reading how this thread developed? - "I will never post a PK log again. I came for advice and all I got in return is people griping how OP DS ninjas are."

I won't post logs either solely because of player responses to them as well. You in particular actually. I will never approach the open forum for advice again with a log again, I will ask for rough directions on prayer, and spend lives getting it down to where I am comfortable. I am truly sorry if the player behind this character is offended. And I hope I am not a contributing factor, but across the log they identified their mistakes pretty easily. There isn't much for us to offer, you have said this as well. So instead we start dissecting the log itself, and instead of advice we offer opinions on the log. There are alot of respected members of the community, notable pkers, who all agree that a fair amount of ninja logs highlight that ninjas are consistently the best melee class vs most anyone, and the fastest to recover if it goes bad, and the best escape tactics except for druids. I think they where designed never to die. It isn't wrong for players to voice their opinions, espescially when the evidence is so clear in game. As a lotus scourge, and double sheath, I was able to solo be very thing except gear, and the lurker. As a rogue. I'd that not maybe slightly imbalanced?

@Azravik I would recommend comparing. 2h sword/Speer log to 2h staff log instead of dual wield. Dual wield is another beast. Question really is how much better/worse is jutsu compared to its cousin?  You'll have to adjust for staff values vs spear/sword values, avg damage, and opponents weapons etc. But I think  showing defense + offense vs those three weapons will give a better comparison to determine if jutsu needs to be toned. From what @F0xx had told me, his ninja basically always wielded a staff btw. Hwaarhuh never has, but I'm happy to give it a try. I have the domniferis from the pit (people say best staff in the game) and can compare.

You say I am sorry, and then you do the exactly same thing you were "sorry" about.

I am very well aware why people gripe under PK logs, it's to get the "herd" going, in hopes that the masses will swing immortal opinion. And they do it because It has worked in the past. IMO, there should be divine mandate against this - if you have concerns over balance, the right place to voice them is the Prayer forum. There you can argue your point with actual proofs. I've done that many times. I've been shut down and I've rolled combos to prove my arguments. You should try doing it too.

You say ninjas are OP and you've played many of them, but I know neither of their names. I've played one and I think you know its name. The only names that pop up in my head when I think of strong ninjas are Tassin's, but he's been playing strong ninjas waaay before the ninja rework.

You say you can solo everything except gear and lurker with a ninja, but this is doable with great many classes and is no argument that proves your point.

Additionally, regarding the utter derail meant of this thread...I can often pick apart what I did WRONG in a PK log. What I can't do, is tell myself what I CAN'T see. Most notably, other strategies to try. Posting in PK logs section is meant to be for two reasons:

1) help immediate player. In my case I'm asking for alternate strategies. I know they exist bc the IMMs have been awesome at giving me some from these exact same logs (copied and pasted from.prayer forum). I wanted to share with the community  bc I think tactically and strategically these logs are good fodder beyond just correcting my mistakes or Ahxnar's.

2) provide help for less experienced players trying to understand how to play, or beat one side of the PK match.  I tried to help I'm this regard with a heavily edited and commented log. But there is WAAY more the pbase could share here about either beating Ogres, or Rangers as a ninja, or beating a feral/ninja as a Ranger or anything else. E.g. tassin pointed out here that if Ahxnar would just dirt, or blind and chase, my murder DS benefit is negated. Also someone else somewhere, Mordred player I believe, said fighting on water as a ninja got him killed a few times bc blinding is hard with dust (if they have saves like Ahxnar) and difficult to escape blinding/sleepy/glowing arrows from an archer so it's a high risk strategy. Never realized that. but Hwaarhuh DID die in this log from fighting  on water. So something learned.. There is more here that could be provided. Now however, this log is basically ruined for future uses by the pbase for learning bc it's been so thoroughly derailed. The concerns and feelings expressed by EVERYONE here I think are legitimate. But most of them don't belong in a PK log thread. IMHO ofc. But I believe the IMMS value everyone's input and so they tolerate it bc through the mess it helps the community, but even more bc I believe the IMMS really try to respect people and their individual diversity as MUCH as possible without letting it get toxic.  So thanks to the IMMS past and present who merit the praise above. I know maybe not every single IMM in our long history fits the description above, but very many of of you have and still do.

I completely believe that you've not done so intentionally, but how a sentence is phrased often conveys disrespect even if the words it is made up of do not.  One of the best tricks I ever learned to avoid offending people in discussions like this is to try to frame my statements in such a way that makes it clear that I recognize I am offering my opinion rather than stating a fact that I am certain I am right about - for example, instead of saying to someone "you're wrong", I try to say "I think you're wrong", because the latter conveys my clear recognition that I'm offering an opinion and, at least to some degree, implies that I'm open to having my mind changed.  I've observed that you seem to use the "you're wrong" style of phrasing far more often than you do the "I think you're wrong" phrasing, and I think that this makes you come across as arrogant and self-certain because it subtextually implies that you think you can't possibly be wrong about what you're saying - and it does so at a largely subconscious level that triggers an emotional reaction to that implication, which makes it harder to calmly and rationally respond to the point you're actually trying to get across.  I didn't realize that I was doing the same until it was pointed out to me a while back, and I've found that being more careful with phrasing goes a long way to combat this kind of counterproductive subtextual miscommunication; it's a subtle thing, and it may not translate well or even be viewed as an issue in different cultural contexts, but I'd suggest giving it a try in the future and seeing if it makes a difference in how your future discussions play out.  It can take a bit of mental effort at first to self-police this way, but once it becomes habit it's easy to maintain and pays significant rewards.  And if it doesn't work for you, the worst-case result is that you've made an effort to be more polite for nothing.  

 

Also, I suggest not trying to read minds and claim what's going on in someone else's head.  It will almost always come across as arrogant, even if you're 100% right, and I've never seen it change a single mind in my life - most often it simply poisons the discussion.  Took me a while to learn that one too.

I think the main problem is the different way of how things are done and felt in Europe and in the US.

Example from my work life:

someone has a proposal it is awful and can't possibly work that way bc of xxx

If this guy is from europe: "Your idea is really awful and will never work this way. The problem is xxx."

If I tell the same thing to someone from the US they will actually take offense. This is very odd for someone from Europe to understand, we just don't tick that way. If it's awful (also if it is my idea) they can tell me it is awful as long as they say why and their argumentation is logical.

So we have to do the extra mental step and think hold on, this guy is from the US.

Then you gotta rephrase the same to: "What a great idea, I see you've really put some thought into this (obviously has not). Have you considered however there might be some slight problem with xxx?" Followed by a 2 hour discussion with the result that the idea (of course) will not be followed through (bc it is terrible).

I think eastern Europeans are even more direct in this than the typical middle european person.

Trick was offended some time ago by me saying  "Get over it." which he considered to be very rude. I simply did not wish to discuss an hour or more about something I considered of very low importance. It definitely was not meant to be rude. So we had the 1 hour discussion anyway in the end, due to what I discribed above

Just throwing my half cent in here... what Anume said is absolutely correct. It took some time for me when I first became an immortal to understand that some of the things she said to me weren't offensive but a matter of fact and I was just being overly defensive about it. 

I have always looked at f0xx in the same light so I tend not to take offense at what he says. Sometimes though... it sure is difficult because I think he is being offensive on purpose. 😥

And it isn't about how amazing my ninjas where. It is about how much stronger they where compared to other characters I've played. If you're usually a 1 to 1 pker, and suddenly with one class you are 5 to 1, you probably shouldn't assume it's all your skills level.
