Wathok
Does anyone here use the Dvorak Keyboard setup instead of the more popular Qwerty one? If so, did you always use the Dvorak, or did you switch from Qwerty? If you did switch, has there been a significant improvement in your typing speed? corpsestomp
Well, since the qwerty keyboard was designed to slow down typists (keys on typewriters stick easily) I can imagine it helping speed, but I've never used one.

Shaun
I prefer my QWERTY..I have no problems with it, and I never get fatigued.
Wathok
I'm asking the questions above because I'm considering giving Dvorak a try. Although my current typing speed is more than adequate for my needs, I wouldn't mind being able to type even faster. The problem is that to switch over to a new keyboard layout I will have to not only learn it, but "unlearn" the old one. So I'm wondering if it's worth the effort. In other words, would my typing speed increase substantially? I'm hoping I might find someone who has actually gone through the process.
Lethereal
Personally, I haven't tried it; however, I don't think it's a good idea to switch. Most jobs use the Qwerty keyboard and that is really where you want to be able to type quickly - otherwise who could you post Forum comments without being caught? In all seriousness though, until the rest of the world changes, I'd stick with Qwerty. It will just make life a lot easier on you in the long run.
