Kyzarius
So, i am curious...i have been playing here for about three years now. Many charatcers some good, some not so good...but one thing always gets me, this game when i am in a pk fight gets my heart pumping (and i mean THUMPING) and adrenaline going like no other game. I am curious, do any of you long time players get this rush from pking in FL? Or is it just me...
Marc
Yea I get it a lot of the time
random_clown
I used to get that feeling when I first started playing FL not long ago, but with a few months experience in PvP it has faded. When I fight in pvp, I am as calm as I would be ranking in emerald forest.
Mudder
Yeah sadly enough, after you get good at PK and win the majority of the time. The adrenaline rush gets less and less. OR Maybe i'm doing better in PK because the rush faded away and I can actually think/type properly. Though I do get a rush if I am losing hardcore, like I have 100 hp left and im being bash-locked. Fiere
I've got a theory. When I first started, it was constant rush, now only sometimes. The thing is, those sometimes are always when the person I'm fighting is near my skill level. Too low, it's a cakewalk, no rush. Too high, it's run and hide, or just die. No rush. It's the best when we're both at the same level.
Kyzarius
see, i have gotten now where i am way more relaxed against some classes yet others get me so on edge i have to go take a walk afterwards..though honestly my last few toons i have gotten to where when i decide to attack rather than get jumped i am calm relaxed and execute well..at least i think.. but to tell you all the truth that rush of adrenaline is something i have yet to experience in any other game. Maventiem
Depends on the char. Someone known and someone who hasn't been taken down yet - ya. I get pumpin. But someone who I've beat before and I know how to do it, nah not so much.
Zrothum
I don't really get a rush anymore. Unless there is something big at stake....like a very nice loot, a cabal promotion, something....just everyday PvP hasn't really got my blood pumping since I played Elviana. jb5679
I only get a rush when I win a pk and get to sort through crazy loot and it was an awesome fight. Besides that I'm pretty broken for that
Gomanhor
I sweat when I play Forsaken Lands. I'm about as paranoid as you can get; I type "where pk" and "who pk" every ten seconds or less. Constantly moving, traveling through water when I can, trying not to use magical city gates, running to some far off corner of the lands as soon as I even think someone's on my tail... man, it's hard work. Oddly enough, I feel calmer during PK. Maybe it's because I know that I'm already in a fight, as opposed to worrying about getting surprised. Lethereal
My heart practically beats out my chest and my fingers get all shaky from the adrenaline. That's why I can't PK - I get so freaked, I can just manage to type flee and then run like hell. I've even tried making characters I don't put any time into to try to learn to PK and keep them in lesser equip so I don't worry about losing anything I can't replace - to no avail - I still can't PK. Any tips on how to chill out so I CAN PK?

Any tips on how to chill out so I CAN PK? I had and still have that problem. While I am still no pk giant, I can still hold my own a lot of the times. The best way to do it, is to go into thinking that you are going to die, but you want to make it hell. Running isn't an option, flee only if you are going to re-engage. That is the best way to stop the shakes. Do that 100+ times (no I am not kidding) and it gets easier. Of course there are always those high stake bouts where you lose it. Kyzarius
Tell you what though i find it ...impressive...i geuss that a txt based game can get such a response from people that million dollar gaming development projects fail to even come close to reaching. Warpnow
when I am up against a beast like Messy or any cabal leader/Elder I get worked up. heh. When I am against a run of the mill guy? Nah.
MysticR
I don't understand how people think they are paranoid because they type where every five seconds. I type where every five to ten steps to stay on guard because everyone knows there are bloodthirsty people around. >.> <.<
corpsestomp
When I go up against well-known characters, sometimes I'll get the shakes, or when I recall with less than 50 hp, have a where in and see them in the same city. Or when I've got somebody tough on the run. That's why I have to have murder or c 'spell' copied, so I can just ctrl+v when I find them. Otherwise I end up typing mruder or something stupid in and lose them.

Any tips on how to chill out so I CAN PK? Make a char in battle, fight alot of duels, mostly against goodies if you're good or neutral align, no chance of death, and just keep it up, my now defunct warmaster but yet to delete taught me that. When your char's main purpose in life is to battle, not so much the win or die, just the being in combat is whats important to them, and that becomes your primary goal, things come together. Most of my fights became pretty close, and it became a matter of eq, not so much my skill as a pker. you can do everything right, time everything nicely, it comes down to a matter of eq, at least as a warrior, heh. But yea, I suppose its just experiance, fight, fight, and fight some more. You start to lose the shakes, I don't get the rush like I used too, unless its like others said, going up against a top dog, or something important hinges on the outcome, but its become an almost zen-like state of pk for me. Pk has become like running plays were for me in football, I know my char, or that class like the back of my hand, it becomes instinct.
Deykari
I don't get a rush from fighting anyone normally; the only time I get "The Rush" is if I'm fighting one of the big dogs, and I've almost killed them. They'll be at awful and all of a sudden heart-rate will pick up whilst I'm leant forward into the monitor just willing me to get that kill. Celerity
I made a new pk system on zMUD for my last character. I was thinking about how I could get my speed/chasing speed up, and so I made a system of macros/buttons/triggers. I play with one hand and the mouse now, kinda emulating a shooting type game for reactions. My speed is WAY WAY up...not typing names and key commands reallllly helps--also keeps a tab on my status, and makes sure I don't get surprised easily. I also have a world-shift timer, now that it is fairly consistent . I've also added some colors for important things that tend to be missed, like when a charmie disarms someone, run out ammunition, etc. Problem now is that I get really sleepy (bored?) when I play, because I'm not typing much. As for adrenaline..I get a different kind of feeling now. Best times for me are when I'm ranking and my groupmates inspire some sort of reaction, usually laughing. The last time I remember having pk adrenaline was solo fighting two certain qraces grouped up--so almost never. That..and losing connection is sure to get me riled up. :S
npc_death
I get it every single time. Never could shake it. I guess that's why I still suck...can't think clearly during a battle. Oh well. One Way Up
I get it every single time. Never could shake it. I guess that's why I still suck...can't think clearly during a battle. Oh well. I like the adrenaline rush. I guess that's why I can't quit FL...my adrenaline is rushing And I can't quit FL because everytime I log on to the forums, I know I can count on there being at least one new nifty one-liner like that for me to snicker/lol/chuckle at/about. I still get a rush when I'm in a neck-to-neck battle with them. Even if I'm confident I can win, and even if it's a person I usually win against, I'm always "in the zone" when it gets down to the wire. I start tuning things out in the outside world as the adrenline kicks in. It's great.
Magick
I lost the 'rush' a long time ago in PK. All methodical and stolid now. Big dog or not. Running for my life or chasing. Even while knowing I'm dead. I think it's more because if I can't beat them, I can, blind or not, usually out run them. And hide well. Though if I know I'm dead, usually I'll give a better fight, simply because if I do, there's a better chance they'll mess up just enough for me to gain an edge to flee or kill them. corpsestomp
Usually during battle I go from some laid out plan to, do as much damage as possible, probably why I can't play a shaman for the life of me. Too many mals to worry about.
The Lemming
I still get a bit of that rush in non-challenge battles but not as defined as it used to be. Hardly ever durring a challenge anymore. Though I do still get it to the point where I am almost blinded by it when I try and take on ranking groups all in my range.
