virr
So, one of the fun things I like to do when I have reached lvl 50, is to visit dangerous places, and try to beat it. One place that directly comes to mind, is Winter. I have so much fun there, exploring myself and I've killed just about everything in it except: Demoniconian. He spawns dark servants all the time and beeing a ranger, I'm thinking, lets trim the numbers of dark servants down with 'thunder storm' while striking at Demoniconian. But for some reason the weather at his throne is always clear. I can have blizzards around his room, but not in his room. Is this a bug? And if it isn't, what is the logic of gimping rangers of this area spell while I'm guessing say invokers or dark-knights can use fireballs? Thoughts? mya
I think that was made on purpose to counter Call Lightning (Invoker) and ThunderStorm (Rangers). Rangers already have lots of vs PVE bonues, due to pets, sleep arrows, good defences and regen. Those sort of places are meant to be taken by groups, not soloed. Implementor Anume Posted July 12, 2020 Implementor Report Share Posted July 12, 2020 That boss also hunts, so it's not really all that difficult to move it.
virr
Sleep arrow! Great! Got to find me a few of those. No I know the area is meant to be taken by groups, but sometimes there's none around. Yes, Demoniconian hunts, so that begs the question. Do you want him chasing you or do you prefer having him stay in his place? By aiming for a dark servant before fleeing they all stay in his room. But since not beeing able to use the thunderstorm in his room, perhaps another try is warranted to see if I can land the thunderstorms outside his room. It's a scary prospect though. Trick
If you're not archery path, then you won't have access to sleep arrows. If you are, then traveling just became a whole lot easier. I would have him chase. Clear the area around him of the mobs that way you don't get overrun. He'll chase and you just t-storm to your heart's content. Throw on a staff, hit an insectswarm on him to stop his regen and you're golden.
virr
Great advice, Trick. I'll try that. Thank you!
Archbishop Monk
Definitely hit and run tactics. Never stay in one room fighting him and his servants together, they will dirt kick and rescue him. He will follow you all the way out of Magic as well, so you have more room to move. 'tarako
It is very difficult to maintain an actual thunderstorm in winter. You will end up with snow and blizzards the vast majority of the time. Demoninicon is also a pretty difficult mob because of how quickly he spawns dark servants that rescue. Not many people bother trying him, let alone solo
virr
Archbishop Monk: There are a few doors then, that might give me time to heal. 'tarako: All the more reason to try.

"Faction of Magic" doesn't exist per se. The Demoniconian, Iggilwiv, Innkeeper and the Plains of Winter are all in one area. You have a lot of room to maneuver. But, keep in mind there are aggro mobs out on the plains.
virr
So kill everything within the plains before going in. I got my work cut out for me. 😂
Implementor Kassieti Posted July 12, 2020 Implementor Report Share Posted July 12, 2020 Yes. That's exactly what we're saying. Which also means you need to kill the Demoninicon before the area resets. Good luck.
virr
Does the Winter area reset while you are in it? It has not been my experience that it does.
Archbishop Monk
lol, stop messing with him before someone new decides to try to kill everything and then the demoninicon.
Tantangel
Just release him and have him follow you around. If you get him behind a locked door, you can more easily take him on and you shouldn't die attempting it. If he ends up on the side of the door you're on, you can keep retreating back if need be. If you lock him up inside the two rooms he's in you can rest it out, or you can purposely use that one room as a regen room so you can heal up while he's waiting outside. He's not that bad compared to some of the other MOBs out there though.

It has not been my experience that it does. Areas can repop with players inside, yes. Some take longer to repop than others. There's plenty of rooms around the Demoninicon's hole that you should be able to kite him around with. You shouldn't need to drag him all the way out to the plains. Archbishop Monk
As a ranger, you can also shoot him from a distance down before you engage him. If you get the bow of anduin, you can shoot through a locked door to whittle him down until you can't shoot anymore. After that, he should be easier to finish. virr
Arrow shooting from the room next door doesn't work in Winter. I don't remember the message exactly, but it says something like that the creature in the area are to hardened to take any damage. I know I tried it on the pathway with the Pyrocasters and then I tired it on Demoninicon. It did nothing too him and he didn't start chasing. And as 'tarako said - it is very hard to create a thunderstorm in the area. I did manage a few times, but not often enough to do enough damage, considering I had to regain mana without trance and then when I tried again - no thunderstorm available. Insect swam wouldn't land either. Tried a few time but after two tries the servant count was in double figures and I had to flee. So with sanced pets dying like flies, his relentless spawning of servants and not having enough time to do any damage worth mentioning, I gave up. Oh, did I mention that is was dangerous? Escaped with my life on a thread more than once. Lowest hp count - 18.
Mmm Coffee
Use every buff you can before the fight, sanc your pets and have a macro ready and order your pets to kill his charmie then rescue you when they're summoned. If your pets are tanking, use the flee/engage/thunderstorm routine for double-round chances. He also might be able to summon more minions in his throne room than the others, someone told me that once i'm not sure.
Izzzzy
He can be soloed. Just run back to the entrance. Not that difficult if you're patient. This is the Mob I use to see if I'm ready for PVP.
