Grumpy
I wish there was a easier way to find your enemies so that you can fight. I spend most of the time walking from place to place, checking every cloaked room looking for poeple, and it seems that is what I do 80% of the time. Poeple no longer hang out at the obvious places like CC. Its beginning to get a little boring. Could anyone give me some pointers as to how I can fight more/ search less? Icor
There aren't very many people on anymore. 20, 25 average.
Fiere
I've noticed the same problem. Everybody hides, constantly. I mean, I hide too, but it's generally in obvious places. I'm not trying to hide hide, I'm just staying out of sight. I'm always up for a good fight.
Wathok
What makes this ironic is that while you're trying to find somebody, they're probably trying to find you too. Of course, you don't actually expect people to actually sit and wait in a city, right? One method is to tell the person you're looking for straight up that you want to kill them. This usually does the trick because they will want to prove they're better than you are.
Iyorvin
Or stand in CC yourself.
random_clown
Remember: When searching for a thief or ninja, sit at CC constantly. Only good can come of it.
Fīv
What you need to realize is this is just as much of a technical problem as a player one. As Icor put it, there is a dwindling pbase (or lack of interest in FL), coupled with FL's 24,200 rooms makes it quite hard to find one specific person. For whatever room your enemy is in, there are 24k rooms that he isn't. FL is too big for the pbase currently in my opinion. shaggyboiler
I will say since I've been back i've not seen nearly as many people on as i use to. I pulled some logs that I have back up. Some of them dated back to 06/2002 where there were 70 - 80 people on at a time.
Grumpy
If the problem is technical, maybe there could be a technical solution? How about a new device somewhere in the lands like a magical telescope, which could be activated once per day which lets you find out which area someone is in? How about we get rid of cloaked rooms altogether?
Iusedtobesomebody
there are obvious hiding places, and then there are good hiding places. but, there are some good places to start, usually by using a process of elimination. ask yourself the following questions: can they make their own food/water? if yes, they could be anywhere. if no, they would have to be close to a water source (people are lazy, they aren't going to walk 5 areas away for water. if their hiding, they don't want to take the chance they will be spotted). do a round of areas that have a water source. then spread your search to surrounding areas near areas with water. ever see a spiral? start close and expand outward. are they re-equipping or gathering supplies? check areas with mobs known to contain decent to good eq. check areas that contain goodies to stuff sacks or bags with. have you stumbled upon them hiding before? chances are, they didn't change their spot (people are stubborn). try to think like they would. yes, it's a big world (and getting bigger), but there are ways to narrow down your search a bit. there's more ways, using skills/spells/eq... but i can't give away all my secrets, now can i? heh. Warpnow
heh. Technical solution? Heres a solution...learn the areas The world is not too big...its just less inhabited by strong souls, that isn't a problem, its a scenario which alters the play of the game, with both upsides and downsides. If you know FL well, you can find people. Its not that hard to check all of FLs areas and hidden rooms.
Maventiem
I sat in Rheydin all day long on Thandaeus. Just chillin'. I didn't expect too much trouble, but was either hoping for some rp/pk.
Warpnow
You were Thandaeus. Heh...I like Wathok's suggestion, but I can just picture this a couple months ago. Martineius tells you "I am going to kill you. Where shall we meet?" and all the recipient sees is... You can't quit yet! Your adrenaline is rushing. You can't quit yet! Your adrenaline is rushing. Deykari
If they're Caballed, attack their guardian. Caballed or not. I cannot be held repsonsible for any (mass) loss of life for mentioning this method. But yea, I agree with Warpnow. More often than not, the times I can't find anyone are the times that said person I'm looking for is in Gear, or Desolation, or wherever. Dey DO NOT FOLLOW THIS ADVICE UNLESS YOU ARE CABALLED YOURSELF. Read the divine manadate on cabal warfare interference. If you are uncaballed and attack their guardian this is a fast way to get a slay.
Grumpy
Hmm I had the impression it was alright to attack their guard to draw them out if their cabaled enemies are not around. Could someone verify this?
jb5679
Myself as well, I figured you could attack a cabal while not being caballed yourself as long as you aren't interferring with cabal warfare.
Crypticant
I hate it when my enemies don't make themselves immediately obvious. I mean, come on! You could, alternatively, walk around yelling "Come out, come out, wherever you are". You know, Cape Fear style.
Magick
I hate it when my enemies don't make themselves immediately obvious. I mean, come on! You could, alternatively, walk around yelling "Come out, come out, wherever you are". You know, Cape Fear style. With most of my characters, I've used the tell command instead of yelling, but do yell from time to time. Quite fun. Tell so-and-so "Ready or not, here I come!" They get all prepared and by the time you find them, half their spells are dropping. Oh, lovely.
Iusedtobesomebody
Crypt, doesn't it suck when they won't just meet you and hand over their goodies right away? Vylan used to send notes to his next victims. Heh. note to victim note subject: Tick tock, tick tock. note + note + Time is running out. I'm coming. note + note + Vylan, Sihlouette of Death i loved notes, instead of tells, because you don't pop out of the shadows. heh.
Antisonic
"i loved notes, instead of tells, because you don't pop out of the shadows. heh." thats got to be overpowered...nerf it. p.s. kind of like how they only give alias as an app now, compared to when every ninja and their dog had it, and there was stuff like. "The last thing you see before you die is your mums dirty laundry."
CoffeeBuzz
If you got yourself an invoker, just plop up a firestorm at the cross roads. Someone will walk into it eventually... sometimes you even get a group and if theyre really surprised you can get 2 even 3 kills out of it! oh the memories... Ice storms in CC of a busy city are also quite fun ... but dont stick around for long to see what happens cause, well, you'll be dead.

Could someone verify this? Don't attack even if there are no cabal members online. For instance, if no Savants are online, still, do not attack their cabal guard. You will be slain.
