Gifnab
Player Note: I had more planned than what transpired; I'd been putting some thought into it for a few days, now. By the time we were both online, though, it was getting late, we both seemed to be running short on time, and Ixxilithix was out on the hunt for one of us. Definitely didn't get to do all that I wanted, or where I wanted to do it at, but we worked with what we had, heh. At this time, Sedros had already been inducted into Knight. He made it known to me, fairly early on, that he was looking to become Aegreus's squire. The following is the ceremony, albeit it a brief one. ====================================================================== We open at the Knight's castle, shortly after a fight between Sedros and Ixxilithix. The two had been battling it out for a little while now. Aegreus has just arrived at the Castle and is meeting with Sedros, regarding the formal Knighting ceremony he had -hoped- he had proper time to fully perform. Knowing that time was of the essence and aware that a formidable threat was inbound, Aegreus decides to go ahead and perform the Knighting. Aegreus will be speaking in Yellow Sedros, in Orange. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aegreus nods. 'Aye, sir. I suppose this place is as good as any.' He lets out a brief snicker. Sedros has been divinely empowered! Aegreus walks over to the portcullis and sets leans a glaive against the wall. 'I suppose it is fitting, being the entrance to our hallowed halls.' You smile happily. You give a polite little chuckle. Aegreus's Knight Avatar says 'Sir, let me go stand sentinely while you and Sedros converse.' Aegreus nods at the Avatar. 'Thank you, brother.' He nods at Aegreus in return. Aegreus's Knight Avatar opens the drawbridge south of you. ----- Aegreus and Avatar go out to stake out a vantage point. Aegreus returns. ----- Upon the Drawbridge A drawbridge wide enough to allow two mounted Knights to ride abreast covers the moat, it's huge oaken beams reinforced by gleaming strips of starstone, which have been forged to cover the oak in a diamond pattern. Far below you, the dark waters of the moat ripple slightly, though there is nothing to be seen disturbing their depth. A massive starstone-reinforced portcullis and a pair of reinfoced double-doors add further protection to the fortress' entrance. [Exits: north south] Sedros the Holy Knight is here. Aegreus beckons Sedros to follow. 'Follow me into the Courtyard, sir.' Sedros walks north. A Courtyard A pristine courtyard greets the person entering the castle, gleaming white bricks covering the middle, while a double row of scratched, scorched flagstones rim the courtyard on all sides, memorial to the times when the Castle was nearly destroyed. The eastern and western wall bear dozens of dented shields in neat row upon row, all showing the signs of past battle, some nearly broken in half, while others look like deformed hammered out metal sheets. A few still show the Knight's sigil. Between the rows of shields, a line of nicked swords, axes and other weapons rim the exits to the east and west. [Exits: north east south west] Sedros the Holy Knight is here. Aegreus clears his throat as he walks over to the line of nicked swords. He picks one up and gives it a few swings. You say 'I apologize, again, for the unorthodox order of events.' [Aegreus's Knight Avatar] Ixxilithix smirks. <----- The prowler is quick, and quiet. The Avatar spots him not 2 hours after setting up his post, and reports. Aegreus sets the sword down and turns back to you. You say 'It is here....' You scan south. *** Range 2 (south) *** (White Aura) A large Knight clad in armor bars the way. The Knight altar stands here. *** Range 3 (south) *** A bleeding demon of nexus lies in the dirt here. *** Range 5 (south) *** (Charmed) A forboding, gruesome wight protects its master. (Charmed) (White Aura) Aegreus's Knight Avatar stands here. Sedros scans south. Sedros closes his eyes momentarily. The ground shaking under its hoofs, a giant warhorse comes to Sedros's side! Your servant will slowly return to you. Sedros mounts on the back of the Goliath. [KNIGHT] (Inductee) Sedros: 'I suppose this will have to wait, then.' [PRAETORIAN] (Lord of Battle) Aegreus: 'Apologies, brother.' --- Sedros rides out to face Ixxilithix, who has instead, disappeared. He returns, and hoping for a brief window of opportunity, they begin. --- Aegreus clears his throat. 'The process of formally knighting an individual, and taking upon oneself a squire, is a tradition long since passed.' Sedros nods. Sedros sheathes his weapons. Aegreus continues. 'The Commander and I have been speaking on this matter for a while, now. Aegreus nods at you. 'You, Sedros, were the inspiration for that.' Aegreus continues, his voice raised slightly. 'You've proven yourself several times over, in my eyes.' Aegreus motions around the both of you. 'Your character is well respected within our halls, from what I gather.' Aegreus continues. 'My Praetorians have mentioned your name on several occassions.' Aegreus nods at you. 'You have already proven to...stand out, as it were, in your chosen profession.' Aegreus smiles. 'You and I are alike, in that respect. You say 'Among other things, and other instances, it shows me that you are patient. Enduring.' A young griffin circles above, its shadow skimming the ground. Aegreus draws his sword and lays the blade in his free hand. 'With your help....I would like to recognize the ways of old...' look A Courtyard A pristine courtyard greets the person entering the castle, gleaming white bricks covering the middle, while a double row of scratched, scorched flagstones rim the courtyard on all sides, memorial to the times when the Castle was nearly destroyed. Aegreus motions to a clear spot on the ground, right in the middle of the Courtyard. You say 'Sedros Bedldir....take a knee.' Sedros listens intently, his eyes fixed on yours as he kneels. Sedros kneels respectfully before you. Aegreus begins to slowly walk a circle around you, as you remain kneeling. You say 'Sedros Beldir....you have read the Commandments, no?' Sedros responds firmly 'I have.' Aegreus continues to walk the circle, his blade still resting in his free hand. Aegreus nods. 'Then please...complete my sentences.' Aegreus continues the circle, his pace steady and smooth. 'Let not there be Weakness....' Sedros responds 'Only Strength.' A young griffin circles above, its shadow skimming the ground. 'TINK' Aegreus shoulders his sword, it's blade resting on his pauldron. 'Let not there be Fear...' Sedros responds 'Only Courage.' Aegreus continues his circle, nodding. 'Let not there be Slaughter...' Sedros continues 'Only Mercy.' Aegreus stops his circle, and faces you. 'Let not there be Doubt...' Sedros looks up to they sky, 'Only Faith.' Aegreus nods, and continues. 'Let not there be Pride...' Sedros looks to the ground, 'Only Humility.' Aegreus turns and walks back, and squares up with you. 'Let not there be Greed...' Sedros responds 'Only Charity' Aegreus clutches his sword in both hands. 'Let not there be Disrgrace....' Sedros looks you in the eyes and says firmly, 'Only Honor.' Aegreus raises the hilt of his sword to his forehead, closes his eyes, and bows his head. 'If you would, please bow your head.' Sedros lowers his head, exposing his neck. Aegreus begins chanting a quiet, quick prayer. 'Bless us, Lord, your children. I pray your discernment over me, Sedros, and your humble servants.' Aegreus continues. 'I pray your protection over Sedros, and I ask that you stir his spirit, filling him with your Righteousness, and continue to show him your path for him.' Aegreus opens his eyes, and ever so slightly, drops the tip of his sword on your shoulder. 'There is no greater sacrifice, Sedros, than for a man to lay down his life, for another.' Aegreus continues, his sword still resting on your shoulder. 'This is your duty.' Aegreus nods at you. 'Do you accept? Sedros replies, head still bowed, 'I do.' Aegreus raises his sword over your bowed head, and lightly taps your other shoulder. 'TINK' You say 'Then arise...Sir Sedros Bedldir the Patient, Squire of Aegreus.' Sedros raises his head, and stands. Aegreus drops his sword to his side and, smiling widely, approaches Sedros with an outstretched arm, beckoning Sedros to embrace him. Sedros says 'You've done me a great honor, friend.' Aegreus embraces Sedros in a half hug, pats his back...albeit roughly, and says. 'It's good to have you, brother.' Aegreus steps back. 'I apologize our posts have been staggered. There is still much to discuss.' You say 'I am excited to get to it, though.' Sedros nods at you in agreement. Sedros says 'Anything you'd have of me, I will be ready.' Aegreus nods at you. 'You've done me a great honor, and I feel the Lord is pleased, this day. Aegreus smiles. 'Just keep doing what you're doing.' He snickers, winking at you. 'It seems to be working out for ya.' You say 'The Lord has obviously placed his blessing on you. I am excited to see what He has planned for you.' Sedros says 'If by that you mean, not getting myself killed...then I will continue to do my best.' Aegreus snickers, nodding. 'Maybe you could teach me a thing or two, then.' Aegreus chuckles, running his hand over a myriad of scars on his neck. Sedros says 'I'm sure I will slip up eventually. I'm not quite as dexterous as I made myself out to be.' Sedros chuckles politely. Aegreus clears his throat. 'Again...I apologize for the oddity of the events that have unfolded....but again, I am honored to not only have you with us....but to have you as my squire.' Sedros says 'I'd likely trip over my own left foot if it weren't for me riding around on a horse so often.' Aegreus lets out a loud bellow. 'Oh, the days of masterful horseback riding....how I miss thee.' Sedros says 'Before I must go, have you an orders for me?' Aegreus holds up a finger. 'To that point.... Aegreus nods. 'I apologize, but in the haste of things, I have not had a chance to complete the formal document, yet.' Aegreus nods at Sedros, and then at the Avatar. He takes out a small piece of nice looking paper. Aegreus unrolls part of it, revealing three lines, each with a large X in front of it. Aegreus hands you a piece of charred stick. 'If you would sir, make your mark.' Aegreus points at the second line. 'Right there. Sedros sits down and thinks deeply. You say 'I'll finish the document, and be sure that you will receive a copy.' Sedros nods, taking the stub of charcoal from you and signing the paper. Aegreus nods at you, and presents it to the Avatar, who does the same on the bottom line. You say 'Thank you.' Aegreus nods at you. 'I know you must be tired, and ready to hit the rack.' You say 'Also...' You say 'Know that your new status will be recognized...' You say 'The Commander is simply waiting on this document to hit his desk.' Sedros nods. Aegreus chuckles. 'It wasn't...quite, what I had in mind. Perhaps better.' He shrugs a shoulder, smiling. DAMN! You snap your fingers. Sedros says 'It's good to have those moments in life.' You say 'Drat. Keep on forgetting!' You bonk yourself, fool that you are. Sedros says 'Those that turn out better than intended.' Sedros says 'Yes?' You say 'As per MY own policy...I was going to ask that you select one of the armaments, from Isthanna.' Aegreus nods at you. 'I can see that you've already selected a few.' Sedros says 'You've given me more than I could ask for today. There is no need with further gifts.' You say 'As per my policy, I wish to provide our new Knights with a free item from Isthanna.' You say 'Are you sure?' You say 'Shield, perhaps?' Sedros taps a massive tower shield. Aegreus chuckles, nodding. 'Alright.....well, you're STILL gettin' a gift, like it or not.' Sedros says 'You've spent too much time with Brother Dundon. Quite persistant, both of you.' You say 'Maybe not a gift....consider it more of...preventative protection.' You say 'The safer you stay, the easier my job is.' You fall down laughing. Aegreus chuckles. 'I jest. Thank you again, though, for agreeing to meet me here, and to help reinstute a glorious tradition.' Sedros says 'A pleasure, to be sure.' Sedros nods at you in agreement. Sedros says 'I'll be on my way out, then.' Sedros stands at attention and gives a brisk salute. Sedros waves goodbye to you. Have a good journey. Aegreus nods at Sedros. 'Yes, sir. You stand at attention, and give a brisk salute. Sedros walks south.
