Designated_Driver
So by Cycel logic... Black people don't like George Bush... Therefore George Bush is... Black? "Lookie here, Mordachai! We got one of them self-hatin' Jews!" "Let's get 'em, Hershel!"
EyeSeeU
So by Cycel logic... Black people don't like George Bush... Therefore George Bush is... Black? "Lookie here, Mordachai! We got one of them self-hatin' Jews!" "Let's get 'em, Hershel!" I think thats how it works, although George Bush may not be Black he could he mexican. Crypticant
I have no idea what Cycel logic is. Perhaps you mean "Aristotelian logic", or, more easily, a syllogism, based on what you described? However, there is no major premise in the first argument, only a minor one, so you wouldn't be able to deduce from that argument that George Bush is black. An example of a correct syllogism with universal affirmatives is illustrated by the following: All men are pigs. All pigs are intelligent. All men are intelligent. So, if you were trying reach your assumption that "George Bush doesn't like black people", then would would have the following arguments: All people are black. George Bush doesn't like people. George Bush doesnt like black people. (and therefore, since all people are black...) George Bush is black. (But as you see, it is flawed logic). Enjoy. Celerity
Cycel logic is flawed logic. I believe some sort of player here?
Designated_Driver
Yup. Cycel used to be a player here, and I'm working on getting him to come back, once he returns from California (next Saturday). I think I've got him in. Especially now that you're back. He left when Viri and Bryn left, because he figured things wouldn't be the same.
Crypticant
Heh Ok, that makes more sense.

Celerity
Yes, the argument is logical. Just the premises are not reasonable.
Iyorvin
Ah good call, yes it isnt' the logic but the premises that are not sound.
Warpnow
You guys got it backwards. The Argument is Sound. The argument isn't valid, because the validity of a syllogism follows from the validity of the premesis(sp?).
