Before the Nexus Fortress
  Hewn into the side of a mountainface this impressive structure is
sinister and almost skull shaped.  Slits carved into the side give way to
the internal flickering of flames.  A strange roaring is heard below, almost
like the rush of a river.  An atmosphere of tension fills the air and you
have a deep foreboding feeling that you can't shift.  The smell of brimstone
and smoldering is unmistakable and all consuming.

  A beautiful place has been erected on a huge roof overlooking the marble
plaza below.  This temple is completely different from what people usually
expect from a place of worship.  No walls are here to limit its territory,
the only thing that reminds of a conservative temple is the pit of offering
which has been placed in a circle inside a flower brimming meadow.  The
grasses and flowers have been chosen to be soft and short bladed, so that no
artificial mowing and grooming is necessary to guarantee access to the pit
of offering.  Young slender trees that look very healthy rim the small
meadow, hiding the fact that the roof ends just behind them and giving the
worshipper the feeling to stand in a forest clearing.

I took a deep breath and logged out.

Sometimes this game just swings really hard.

Some general thoughts from me:
-shield lore still feels like it is a bit overtuned, though that might stem from cabal synergy; in general gladiator has a very strong kit (thus suddenly being stripped of your shield creates that big combat pendulum swing!)
-make sure you logged in after your opponent so you're at the top of the combat rounds 😝
-you'll lose 160hp sanc'd easy in a combat round against a raged berserker so play with a bit more buffer (i.e flee sooner and don't get greedy for the kill)

Worrex: You've took it on the chin so many times only to come back and wreck me later. I'm impressed with your perseverance (I think I'm probably still ahead in the score but we've killed each other a lot). It's just a lot of fun with a rival that goes the distance, even when things are looking bleak. I wish I was good at coming back after taking a death.

I have honestly learned so much from fighting you all the time. Every time you change something slightly, and I need to change something slightly. I started just cleavebotting and hoping for the best, now I need to take everything tick by tick. I don't think we've had a single fight that didn't end up with someone dead and, to me, that's kinda the beauty of playing a berserker. (I believe you're still up by either 2 or 3!) When I made this character I definitely expected the rival to be a Knight instead of a Warmaster 🤣 Keep being awesome.

What do you mean by "overtuned"?  Same with pendulum swing, in what way?

I mean that shield lore does a bit too much compared to the other warrior lores. It's probably still better than all the alternatives by a fair margin, despite the recent nerfs. Maybe I used the wrong word. Sometimes that happens because English is my second language.

Wearing a shield is incredible defense (both in terms of damage taken and reducing chance of spells landing and lag from bash/bodyslam/etc), so when I'm suddenly without a shield after a disarm or cleave, round-to-round combat swings like crazy. This fight is a good example: I'm almost going toe-to-toe with a raged frost zerker with an affinity weapon but after my shield is cleaved I drop 30-35% of my health in two rounds (with stance up). Another comparison I can make was fighting Bradanto (on a different character) while he was using a shield vs when he wasn't and comparing those fights.

Essentially if I can keep the shield on combat will be a lot more predictable (at least for me) but as soon as it gets removed through whatever mean, the battle suddenly feels a lot more volatile. I guess thinking about this a bit more it might be more a berserker thing than a shield lore thing.

I feel like going toe to toe is a bit too risky without big advantages. There is also a whip of hellish blue fire north of miruvhor that's going to both land more hits, as well as having an extremely useful proc for forms in matches vs pure melee characters. This came down to the wire, and landing a few more hits or not getting hit a couple times would have won this one. Also vs a melee class without counter you should never underestimate the value of murder rounds for similar reasons I mentioned above. Flee s:n: murder target gives you 4 attempted attacks, a shield bash and possible procs of glad skills. 

 

All in all it's a good log to read through, and it's not an easy matchup at all especially with them using an ice weapon. Good effort. My recommendation overall is when going for the trip lock, trip once, flee return murder then trip again.
