Merriwren
Hey I know we don't have many anime fans here but I was wondering if anyone will be attending Otakon this year in Baltimore, MD? Yes, I am going and I'm really looking foreward to it. If anyone else is going I'd love to meet up and hang out or something. P.S. : In fact does anyone here go to conventions at all?
Designated_Driver
I wasn't planning on going, but if you want to stop by Frederick on your way out, I'd buy ya a pizza.

Designated_Driver
do you guys get Buzz tv in the US ? An channel dedicatd 100% to manga ? No, thank god. If we got any channel devoted to any kind of Anime, I would personally go shoot the cable hosts.
Acerbity
Some Anime movies are actually really good. I'll try and find two movies a friend gave me -- I didn't think I'd get into them, but damn, got me hooked REAL quick. Plots are good, and sometimes the picture rules. ajwetton
It depends on the Series on whether or not I like it, I've watched some and it was boring but two I love are Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star, Not sure which one i liked better but they both rock. MeleeCrazy
It really depends on the series, or movie....Green Legend Ran and Galaxy Express 999, are some good ones.
Fiere
I've only seen cowboy bepop a couple of times, but I thought it was pretty funny. If it's the one I'm thinking of.
elfdude
Im not a huge anime fan but I like cowboy beebop, and that outlaw star was pretty badass. I also own vampire hunter d and akira, both kickass movies.
MeleeCrazy
Cowboy Bebop's allright, most of the episodes have random plots, the ones that actually tie into their past great. I suggest the Real Folk Blues parts 1, 2 and 3 I believe, great episodes. Yeah those movies are great. Armitage the Third FTW
mya
Mosty manga series that i see on Bus completely awfull. Ever seen a rapper samuray or a sammuray cutting bullets with their sword ? Its completely stupid. Its worse than Jet lee movies.
MeleeCrazy
Samurai Shamploo.....I can deal with that.
Merriwren
Heh yeah I thought Champloo was funny and good, around the same level as Cowboy Bebop but a bit more random (y'know with the rapping and the zombies etc.) Right now I'm watching Bleach, and I just finished Tenjou Tenge (average) and Utena (awesome). The Lemming
I would love to go to Otakon but I simply cannot afford it this year. As far as Anime goes I liked Ranma 1/2 pretear Full Metal Panic(the origional was good but the fumofu off shoot was hysterical) Slayers Fushigi Yugi rune soldier happy lesson love hina chrono crusade outlaw star The twelve Kingdoms Hellsing Naruto was good in Japaneese but the voice acting in english makes it like a little kids show. I did not like Dragon Ball Z Sailor moon angelic Layre DN Angle and countless other ones. Hmm... An anime network would be good in my area, provided they didnt show Dragon ball Z, sailor moon, and that one about the guy with the nose hair that one is just plain stupid. The Adult swim on cartoon network simply does not show enough they just show the big ones. Often times the big ones are more for children and teens anyway. Full Metal alchamist was worth watching once but for the love of god do not under any circumstances even consider the remote possibility of playing the game. Merriwren
Didn't like Sailormoon? Shame. That's a classic. Ranma 1/2 another classic, so good. I kinda wish InuYasha was a bit closer to it because it seems to be dragging on (then again InuYasha has a much more linear story line). Slayers, Fushugi Yuugi, Hellsing and Outlaw Star I've seen too. Love them all. (Is there another season of Hellsing because that end wasn't really...an ending.) And I really agree with the Naruto comment, I'm at about episode 100 and it is really good, and alot more complex than the american dub. And his english catch phrase..."Believe it" !!!?!??! What is that!!? If you like Naruto though you should try Bleach, it's kinda like Naruto if they were all older... and Death gods.
Raargant
Believe it=the 'dattebayo' thing he keeps screaming in the original Japanese. Dattebayo doesn't really mean anything in and of itself; they just toss in the 'believe it' thing to keep the voice/image synched. It's used to add 'emphasis' to something he says. Naruto is very good, in the subtitled versions...but the filler is crap. Just read the manga.
Merriwren
Speaking of manga... What do you guys read? Right now I'm addicted to Red River, Hot Gimmick, From Far Away, and Hana Kimi. Some others are Kimi Wa Pet (Tramps Like Us), Doubt, and Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances).
Raargant
Primarily Naruto. I've heard some very good things about Hikaru no Go and Bleach though.
Merriwren
My friend owns Bleach but I haven't read any yet. If it's like the anime it should be great. Hikaru No Go... I've seen alot of the anime series, very interesting.
MeleeCrazy
Not a dragon ball fan...Well I liked it. And all i've seen of naruto is the american stuff...not for me. Yu Yu Hakusho is one I wish I would have seen more of.
