I remember once in 2.0 on Elvondril...I had lost the Valmiran standard, been killed...full looted and in a NASTY bind when a crash came along...after logging back on I went to get my eq...wore the mithril and I saw myself removing my good eq...and I was like YES!...the crash had returned my eq...it was so awesome. hah.

You see, don't knock crashes. hah.

Nope, didn't crash. And it's a new shaman skill called kill your opponents link. Nice to hit it right before attacking so that way you got a good 20 mins of spelling them up without any kind of fighting back. I used to use it with covus all the time, it's really hard to land though.

Sometimes the connection of a server can slow drastically, causing people with a slower connection to timeout the initial connection, because not very long is given for an established connection before a mud times out.

I had this happen once on a free mud server. Its connection was slowed when the owner doubled the server as a bittorent server. It caused slower connections to time out because it didn't respond with enough time for slower connections to react.

That is the only possible thing I can think of to make the mud down for only some people. It would be very unlikely and unprobable, but its all I'ver ever seen cause that kind of problem.

I have DSL' date=' and a computer I just put together with nothing on it besided my mud client. So who else lost there connection anyway? Anyone? Maybe I'm over reacting, but I hate to feel cheated and powerless. I fully intend to get to the bottom of this.[/quote']

can you ping the server?

Yes, you can ping the server. And there are times when, like Celerity said, a router will go down somewhere that will cause a certain region to lose its connection to FL. Nothing you can do about it except pick up the pieces and come back with a vengeance. No use getting upset about it, because you are powerless to stop it from happening.
