I've been seriously considering a move to Colorado, and want to get positive/negative opinions from people who have lived there. Thus far I haven't heard a single negative thing said. I'm thinking Denver/Boulder but I'm not entirely sure overall...I hear its gorgeous, can get cold, but its a dry cold that doesnt bite quite like here in VA, and in the summer its amazing.

All true Grishnak. I moved here from Kansas City and I'll never leave. Everyone here is cool as shyte. All kinds of things to do, I'm never bored. I forget which magazine did the article, but Fort collins was names number 1 town in the U.S. and Colorado Springs number 1 City. Boulder is actualy the coolest town around here, but some people find it a bit to pricey.

Pros:

1. More consecutive days of sunshine than any state in the nation. Look it up.

2. Skiing, hiking, biking...more outdoor activities than you can shake a stick at.

3. More microbreweries than you can shake a stick at.

4. Modern, friendly people.

5. Some of the most beautiful scenery you will see anywhere.

6. Clean, modern cities.

7. A kickass football team. (Denver, of course, also has the Rockies, the Avalanche, and the Nuggets).

8. Nice weather, snow in winter, hot in the summer. A true "four seasons" type of a state.

9. Great school systems.

10. Home of South Park.

Cons:

1. Focus on the Family's home base.

2. The altitude can sometimes get to you.

3. Housing prices are not proportional to median income.

4. The job market has slowed over the last few years.

5. Winters are cold. Dry cold, wet cold, it's all cold. Colorado has a lot of wind due to the mountains, meaning even colder.

6. Colorado can be an expensive place to live.

7. Influx of Californians and Texans during some months. Not that I have anything against these people directly, but when visiting a different state, please leave your problems where you came from, and don't try to make the state you are visiting "just like home".

8. Unless you live in the city, and only plan on staying in the city (which is defeating the purpose of living in Colorado) you will need to invest in a 4WD vehicle, or at least AWD with snow chains/tires for the winter.

Those are what I came up with off the top of my head. I would be back living there now if I could make out there what I make down here in Florida. Bottom line is, the tech market out there just isn't what it used to be. By and large though, one of the best states in the nation, IMHO, and I've been to almost all of them.
