Fiere
I'd like to see a log of somebody using energy drain effectively in a battle, preferably at fifty. If that's at all feasible. Can anyone send me one?
Marc
Ah I remember being energy drained with my invoker, was not fun at ALL! I don't keep logs though
Pali
It's pretty useful primarily against invokers, battlemages, and communers... problem is how few classes have energy drain, and the lack of them at 50. Edit: Could also see it as quite nice against blademasters.
Iusedtobesomebody
energy drain against any mana-intensive class is beneficial. sometimes the little spells you get early in a characters life can swing a battle one way or the other. ever see a mastered magic missle at 50 against an unsanc'd ogre? every round? nasty. Mastered fire/iceball/harm/plague/poison/veil against an ogre at 50 tends to be far more useful.
Iusedtobesomebody
fireball? hits once per round. magic missle at 50 hits 4 times. *shrug* good chaser/finisher spell to me. but to each his own... also, was just showing a 'lesser' spell/skill can have an impact. Pali
Hits four times, sure. Four weak times.
Iusedtobesomebody
have you: 1. mastered magic missle? 2. used it at 50? 3. on an unsanc'd ogre? 4. and compared it to one fireball? if you answered no to any of the above... i had access to test many things. this being one. EDIT: didn't mean to sound harsh either. you know i love you, Pali.
mya
The problem is that only 2 classes have energy drain. Necros and Dark Knights ... And mostly its a hard spell to land. And since you will be landing it as diculty as silence, most DK's will prefer to cast silence over energy drain. But since it also afects moves, perhaps people should be using it more against warriros.
Iusedtobesomebody
without giving away too much, i loved energy-draining invokers. let them do my dirty work for me. lol.
JumpenJack
If they have decent saves you might be in trouble. My last Dark Knight at 50 couldn't land it much if ever. I'm told Dark Knights cast there spells at level 42when pinnacled. My information is from a long time ago though, so things might have changed. WarriorCleric
I will agree, to a point, that mastered magic missile at 50 did some nasty things to ogres, though I believe it was tonned down since I last used it as such. (1.0) WC
EyeSeeU
why would dks only cast with lvl 42 spells at 50?
mya
DK's cast at the same level as everyone else. Shamans as common knologe have better mals than everyone else. Invockers as common knolgage can have beeter affs than everyone else. DK's dont cast at level 42. That is wrong. Some "class"es cast some spells better. (like ... invockers and .. shamans... ) Thunder storm is not call lightning. Wrath does magical damage... Sleep is a mental spell. Magic resistent races are not the end all. Magic vulnerabilites are not the "Pawnz". Gnomes are FUBARed.
Pali
Invockers as common knolgage can have beeter affs than everyone else. They do not, to my knowledge, gain an innate boost to aff spells like shamans do to mals. Invokers have their own ways to boost their spells, but I don't think they're automatic. mya
"Invockers as common knolgage can have beeter affs than everyone else." You are selectively reading. Key words => "Can Have" I did not say they have... You can blame it on my english

You can blame it on my english My apologies, it simply seemed that you were equating their advantage in affs to the shaman advantage in mals, which isn't quite how it works out. Wanted to clarify the issue.
