I think ninjas are fine as are, name and everything. You people are talking eastern vs. western. The game isn't eastern or western. It is fantasy. And this isn't D & D either there, Crypticant. I fail to see how a ninja does not fit in Forsaken Lands considering it is a fantasy game. As far as monks are concerned, martial arts do come from eastern cultures. Have you never heard of Shaolin monks? Which I believe is what monks on FL is based off.

When I played Shifinix, Acerbity, I knew where your gate point was. I would sit there and wait for you and study you. You liked to hide behind that door thinking you were safe and cozy while I was getting a full study on you.

Exactly how ninjas are supposed to work, if you ask me.

Didn't you hear? Us newbs have banded together to form our own little alliance where we point and laugh at people who started pre-3.0.

It's cool to be a newbie. Vets suck. ;)

As for ninjas, I think skillwise, they're fine. They're titles don't bother me either. I think calling them assassin would be better though, IMO. Just my opinion anyway.

I bet with a couple more pinns under my belt I could rack up a PK record that could challenge a few of you 1.0/2.0 people. :P

Not that a good PK record is the benchmark of any Elite player anyway. Everyone knows it's how good you are at making excuses for your deaths.

*laughs* I'm just going to take that second paragraph as a joke. If it wasn't meant that way, don't tell me. ^_~

Haha this is an interesting topic. Though I'm totally against it. Just the word Ninja is so much better than the word Assassin which is more bland and focused on one art. And I absolutely love the versatility they have, though they can have much more with a better quality and quantity of lores. I think they should get another set of lores to choose from actually, even if it has much less significance on their strategies as the ones they have now, for balancing purposes. The whole reason I came to fl was because of all these cool ninja stories someone told me. Its that one speech about ninjas he gave me that attracted me so much to this game. And I couldn't believe it was all enacted through a black screen with words. Now about 5years later here I am and wonder how I let this game have such an impact on my life.:) Though it has been quite the enjoyable experience for me.

Not going to read this WHOLE thread. I agree. I think they should be Westernized - Assassin, or something more Western than that.

Of course, Monks don't fit due to the same reasons. I don't think FL needs any Eastern influences at all, though.

Damn I hate ninjas.

Probably the only class that absolutely makes no sense to have in a medieval/fantasy RPG. Fantasy is loosely based on western civilization's concepts of fantasy, and I don't see how a ninja fits into that. Not even so much that, as they fact that we have this icon of eastern culture in the game, then absolutely nothing else from them. No Samurai. No Huns with the killer horned bows. It always just seemed to me if you planned to allow eastern civilizations into the pantheon of western fantasy, a game would have to bring in more than just one class.

Don't get me wrong...I've had my share of fun playing a ninja. I just don't think they belong. Not without some other supporting classes.

Thoughts?

I think about saying a lot of stuff. Generally I don't post it on a forum as a stream of consciousness, though, Pali. :D

You've just been poked.

*you lose me in a cloud of smoke and miss the poke*

Hah! Not my fault I'm usually somewhat-to-very intoxicated while reading the forums!

Wait... that doesn't work. Damn. Um...

pmote pokes Crypticant.

quit
