Celerity
I'd just like to know the official stance on names like these: Mei Guardik Inmek Selflon Slaverik Stonen Gharorg Pelzor etc
Deykari
Out of curiosity, are you asking because you think something's wrong with those names or similar names, or because you'd use something similar but want to know if it's fine? I would have thought those examples were fine myself, apart from maybe Mei, which I still think wouldn't be that bad. Dey
Celerity
Insert the first letters of the mob name you want to take the blows. For example a DK with the name Crabinao (gigantic crab will be targetted for people who type crab or less) Inmek, people will look IN something. Selflore, people will acid blast themselves. Meia, people will acid blast themselves. Guardik, people will target any guard. Slaverik, people will target any slave. Gharorg, people will target the Gharnizon. Deykari
Oh. I'm stupid. There was a recent problem with people who's names began with 'Sky' too I think. Can't remember if the Imms fixed it somehow, or if people just aren't allowed names beginning with Sky. I would think the same would be similar for those, however the possibilities are endless and some names that are used for 'nefarious purposes' could be tricky to spot. Interesting to see the Imm view on it too actually. Not allowing names like that wouldn't truly fix the problem, because there are tons of mobs and pets in the game that you could name yourself after. Dey EDIT: If you've ever played "Mystical Ninja starring Goemon" for the N64, I'm sure 'Inmek' is one of the things that Goemon says regularly. Icor
Like Zoqiut/quit/whatever. Zombie. Personally, I think that's about the cheapest thing I can think of. It's like the epitome of separating RP and PK. Your character shouldn't “conveniently” name him/herself or be named by parents or whatever as a means make them kill or survive better. A name should have nothing to do with fighting prowess.
Deykari
Like Zoqiut. Zombie. Personally' date=' I think that's about the cheapest thing I can think of. It's like the epitome of separating RP and PK.[/quote'] You can't really tell if it's intentional or not though. I mean, I didn't even catch onto any of those names that Celerity posted. I could easily think I've come up with a really cool name, such as, "Kesricko" or "Fayetteson" (exagerrations) but not actually know I'm doing anything wrong. Grim_Reefer
Zoqiut is nothing... remember ZOMEK! ZOMek.... ZOMbie... thats like... strategically naming your character for maximum facial pwn4ge... but I mean... whatever, I have things to do.

Belegriel
Now me personnaly, I won't be asking people to change perfectly good names simply because you are too lazy to type unless I'm told different. Simple fix to the not so much a problem, autoaim mob off.
The Forsaken
Yeah yeah, I know I got my butt handed to me out of laziness. Wasn't argueing that.
Raargant
What Belegriel said, for the most part. Blatently ridiculous names will, of course, be removed.
Kyzarius
Try any necro named Zom@@@ or another...
Crypticant
...And in the next chapter, we'll talk about the striking new technology referred to simply as "aliases"...
F-3000
Aliases? Ahh, those... variables are also cool. set bad@ss bad@ss put into variable enemy b blackjack bad@ss But hey, I'm suprised that Guardik is not renamed, since I had character name starting with "Guar" renamed. I've been in impression that character names that "too strongly" go along (common) mob names get renamed, and IMO, it's damn good. And after this thread, I wouldn't be suprised to see most of the new necros with name Zom*... *rolleyes* Congraz for feeding ppl with the idea. Also, I understand the looking following mob, but honestly, how many use command "look in chest" for example? IMO, using name starting with "in" is more abuse than any mob-copy. Besides, there always is chance that people give stuff ment to give for you for the mob. Idea: give "free item(s)" purposely for the mob, and player will regret having that name, especially at low ranks (wont work with necro).
Pieman
Way back on my first Illithid attempt I did not realize that and tried to name him "Selferrous", Raargant brought me up and explained that to me. So I guess the Imms are supposed to have a problem with that as well. "Do yer realize what would happen if someone tried to Hellstream Self." At that point I immediately agreed with him. Warpnow
On my elf cleric, Cellion, I tried to ray MEserie and just typed me because I was in a VERY bad situation and was rushing. It hit me. Its worse than just taking damage, it eats your mana too, like a couple big spells...and that's IT...GONE!
archgold
hahah warpnow, think of what would have happened if you happen to have passed by messalantha at that time too.....lol. I think this thread is absolutely due to the laziness of pbase because even if you didn't want to make an effort the first 2-3 letters of the name apply to many mobs and everything in the game at least 4 or more should be typed. therefore 4 or more letters that are the same (i.e. selferrous) should be revised. F-3000
Also don't forget the case where you wonder why rescue didn't shoot at all in critical situation when target name started with "Me"...
kahlos
loooool. Yes resurrecting is fun because this forum is dead most of the time.
sarduarkar
=X Zoqiut, I made because I thought it was a unique name. Zomek, I made to actually capitalize on all the mistakes I noticed people make on Zoqiut (and because I found I enjoyed playing necromancer much more than lich). - yes, I have no shame. I used to spell myself all the time against certain names like Celerity mentioned. But this has been solved more recently by using alias' and or having the name stored in copy for a target I'm specifically hunting. On a side note: Travens FTW! Edit: Khalos, you forum junkie! I was actually sitting here thinking, "The Forsaken and Crypticant are still around?"
