Lag of death

Corrupted pfiles don't cause a lag, they cause a crash.

If it's a lag, it's generally due a user's background mud process going off the reservation and hogging all CPU time.

Most times the sysadmin will just kill the process. But, until that happens, the rest of the users on the system will suffer. That's why I'm a fan of using something like ShareExtra to allocate CPU usage to clients.
