Giant vs dex race

I wasn't around in your time' date=' but weren't you the one who could cleave anything, with say, a practice staff? :D [/quote']

Yes, I seemed to have a rather easy time destroying weapons.

And then the allmighty bestowed upon Aabahran the "burnproof" flag.

Burnproof weapons were my bane. But few people used them against me (I don't know why). When they did I just ran away and tried to kill them another day, hoping that I could catch them "off-guard" (not using a burnproof weapon).

Tassin, sorry to say but I disagree with you a hundred percent. Even against an experienced player, ogre regeneration will decide the outcome of the battle. Now if you were up against an experienced mage-like character, regeneration might be unnoticed because of the massive damage mages dish out. However with the saves you can rock the socks of any mage. Berserkers are the bane of mages as they have their nifty skills designed to outright piss off battlemages, necros, and invokers. Their battles can be either really long or really short depending on who gets the advantage or gets lucky.

Zerk VS Necro is a big uphill battle for the Zerk.

If you're talking about hitting once every four rounds with 40/40 hit/dam then I would suspect you're fighting a pretty decked out/defensive player.

A fight that went down hill for me was with a feral/ranger whom wasn't wearing anything at all rare, and didn't have all that much hit/dam that I could see, couple bracers, a magical staff, and a few body peices, nothing special, he was missing most of his eq. I hadn't many rares myself, and the only weapon I could use on him was a polearm, granted it wasn't the UBER ANTI-FERAL POLEARM, but still should have given me a little edge I thought. Charge worked well enough, but sadly thats the only thing I landed, before him and his beast ripped me up. Just hard to say that I never have uphill battles with any type dex race/class, even with clerics, they beat on me more with their weapons, than I do them with mine (with the exception of whips, I kind of expect him to land hits more than often).

It just always seems he can either dodge/parry my licks easy, and still pop me about 3-4 times while I steadily miss. I got up to 50/45 hit/dam finally, took a few more nice peices, trying to go all out damage, and still get out hit, by my last three fights, needless to say my luck has taken the worst turn ever. I hit more with my very first char in 1.0 a half-elf/monk, and he wasn't even near fully trained, or anat trained well enough against half the people I was fighting. :( I'm sorry fellas I have gotten so whiney about this berk, its just I had big expectations for him, and his outlook looks worse everytime I play him. Maybe its time for a change then?

Rage and kill the pets first (I doubt they'll be sanced below pinn), it should only take a couple rounds per pet with that hit/dam. As for the other part, from my understanding you are rather close to pinn so it may not apply; however, a warrior or ranger pugiling can be very defensive and still get enough damage in to kill easily below pinn. I've noticed that anywhere from about 25-40ish it isn't difficult to beat almost any class using just a staff (especially with pets, if you don't go ahead and kill them first). At 50, when everyone has full skillsets, the same sort of tactic doesn't cut it.

In conclusion, I wouldn't rage on the player before killing his pets. The leopards have haste and any smart ranger will second with a wyvern against you for the magic damage. Sacrificing your defenses will leave you taking pretty consistent damage from three directions. It may seem like you aren't hitting at all, but that can't be the case if you have 50/45, even against a pugilling ranger. Just try to minimize the extra damage you seem to be taking in.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to add. Unless your opponent has a socket to make their staff burnproof (Which is rare, since there are sockets that will help more commonly), you should be able to cleave almost any staff, if you use the right weapon. The Solar Mace has worked nicely for my zerkers against almost any opponent (on a feral its just extra fun) and works well for cleaving. Otherwise, any particularly heavy weapon works.
