tassinvegeta
I'm not sure if this is an appropriate question to ask on the forums or not, but I need an answer before making a decision with my character I may or may not regret. Is Malchaeius around or did he take a short break at some recent point?
Calron
I'm just going to make an assumption here in my reply. If I'm wrong, just ignore my whole post. On my first few caballers I always had this thing were I felt like my char deserved a promotion any day now. I knew it wasn't why I was playing, but I still couldn't get it out of my head. Now, I'm not implying you are, but you (this is a general you here) should try not to play for cabal rank, and promotions. It will -always- leave you feeling unappreciated and unnoticed. That being said, if you feel like you've done a lot for your cabal, and aren't being recognized, just assume you are missing something. Chances are your cabal IMM is not as absent as you think, and in the case they do take some time off, other IMMs can still watch you and report anything exemplary. Just play for the fun of playing, because if you're always looking forward to that next promotion/that next super-skill, you'll just end up feeling empty at the end of the day. I got over it after a couple chars because I realized it wasn't all that great when you do get it. Sure, you feel good at being recognized, but after a couple weeks you just think to yourself; so....what now. In my experience, even if you're killing cabal enemies and not dying much cabal IMMs tend to look for 'standout moments' for promotions. So, if you're deadset on getting it, and just can't sleep at night, go for a few kills on some more well known people. Even if you kill lots of cabal enemies; oftentimes killing people that aren't a challenge to you/obviously below your skill level doesn't impress much. Warpnow
The "standout moments" theory is true, I think, because you have to get lucky and they see you doing something good, but if its REALLY good, like killing some big huge guy who hasn't been pk'd all month, it'll get around. And if Imms choose to they can see all pk-deaths, so they may notice you kill some huge enemy of your cabal even if they're busy with something else. I don't think this, alone, will get you what you want, but if you draw their attention, the next step is to impress them.
Questioner
rp first, pk second. Do that and you will rise through the ranks depending on whether others are better rpers than you or you log on more often.
Warpnow
rp first' date=' pk second. Do that and you will rise through the ranks depending on whether others are better rpers than you or you log on more often.[/quote'] That's what I do and what I believe is best. Whether or not its the fastest route I wouldn't be so keen to argue.
TheNewGuy
maybe he is waiting for a demon, and think of passing rank 30. if so, not being rejected means still being considered. don't give up
Warpnow
Oops, I thought I read he was waiting for cabal. Damn assumptions. I would say don't give up too easy. Send in your rp sessions to the imms or post them in the prayer forum. Write some well thought out notes to your clan or class. Sometimes to get noticed you have to not only do well, but do well and make SURE its noticed. My #1 suggestion goes with the posting rp logs in the prayer forum. Designated_Driver
If you're waiting for a cabal promotion... I would, entirely seriously, suggest that you start dying. No one can win every fight. But it's the people who stick it out til the end, who get promotions. Not the people who turn tail at the first sign of danger. Three or four high-threat cabal enemies on? Go attack their cabal. Three or four cabal mates on? Kill them, if you're evil. Go have a tea party, if you're good. If you're waiting for a qrace... Once you hit about ten or fifteen PKs... stop. RP, RP, RP... RP... RP, RP... oh, and RP. Don't get frustrated, don't start sending notes out of impatience. Send a little note, or resend your entire application, every two weeks (an IMM can probably clear up which is preferred). Just go out, and RP. tassinvegeta
Wow, I never though so many people would make so many assumptions. I'm not trying to imply or suggest anything on my part, at least not purposely, because I don't find it fair for the person (IMM) on the other end. I mean if I don't deserve something then I don't deserve it. But thanks for everyone's advice anyway, it is well appreciated.
jb5679
Malch, as far as I've seen em, is still around, he never mentioned a vacation as most influential and cabal commanding immortals would/should do.
