This is what a 50 should be able to get alone with some knowledge of the lands:

xx is using:

Combat lantern/banner (ranger/warrior easily gotten)

(Glowing) (Humming) a Ring of Fire/opal/onyx if better suited

(Glowing) (Humming) a Ring of Fire/opal/onyx if better suited

moonstones

moonstones

doubleplated/crown (ranger/warrior easily gotten)

(Glowing) emerald earrings/Onyx/Pearl earring

overlapping plates/tit fullplate/marisa's gown

scaled tentacles/poison barbed

(Glowing) (Humming) a pair of spiked light-steel gauntlets/razor claws/black gauntlet sockety ones..

an Ogre chainskirt/double plated/tiamat's

pair of Slimy Boots(if in)/jagged edged/mithril

kite shield/crested shield(if evil)

multi plated girdle/coral belt/invokation

tit/copper bracer/lets

tit/copper bracer/lets

weapon of choice

a golden mask/high guardians/veil

parrot/warped skull/animated orb

this should be pretty easy to get with a 50... Or REALLY easy to upgrade to if you take a little time and are careful.

Base set (Goodie/Neutral)-

Golden sun, two onyx rings, two teeth necklaces, mithril helm, onyx earring/hydra stud, mithril vest, mithril sleeves, mithril gauntlets, mithril leggings, mithril boots, thick animal hide, mithril girth, two titanium bracers, usually a sharp glaive, white/grey veil, and a red stone.

Base set (Evil)-

Blood candle, two onyx rings, two teeth necklaces, red dragon helm, onyx earring/hydra stud, oak chest plate, oak arm plates, red dragon claws, oak leg plates, red dragon rear claws, thick animal hide, bandit belt, two titanium bracers, usually a sharp glaive, black veil, and a red stone.

If I'm at 50, once I get those things, I'll start replacing them, either through PK or mob killing. Once you get some experience in PK, most of your re-equipping will be done by PKing with the base set, and taking what you need from your opponents.

In my opinion, both are rather limited in their usefulness. The AC from the Ofcol gear is nice for a mage, I suppose, but rather useless for a melee, especially when you can get mithril at that level.

And there are only a couple worthwhile pieces of Mahn-tor gear, namely the face pieces, because they're one of the few non-rare, easy to get face pieces in the game, that have decent stats.

I mention Mahn-Tor gear for lowbies only because no one usually wants it and they leave it lying around for any invis class to come get.

I mentioned Ofcol gear because of its several "healthy" benefits for lower characters and because no one usually wants it.

While lacking other characteristics of more powerful pieces, it provides a nice basic AC coverage for pinns against mobs, but yeah, I don't recommend PKing in it.

Golden Sun

Shazarazade(sp?) Signet Ring

Shazarazade(sp?) Signet Ring

Billowing White Cape, & Rusted Medallion (get the medallion when you're out of ghost, or last of all).

Billowing White Cape, & Rusted Medallion (get the medallion when you're out of ghost, or last of all).

Mithril helm

Soldier's breastplate (Alternatively, that other easy-to-get-vest but that's a rare, which we aren't discussing)

Mithril sleeves

Mithril gauntlets

Mithril leggings

Mithril boots

Shield of Arms

White robe

Mithril girth

White gold bracelet (eventually replaced with titanium bracers)

White gold bracelet (eventually replaced with titanium bracers)

Depends. Blessed pike is a requestable non-rare polearm which I would grab in a pinch.

High guardians facemask

If you're a good there are a lot of items that you'd normally have to kill for, that can be replaced with their requestable equivalents (or items that can be requested that are similar) to maximise your ghost-time for re-equipping. Bear in mind that all of my pinned goods that have been involved in PK have been Paladins, so that base EQ-set is largely biased towards a Paladin grabbing a few things to start with (which are all requestable).

If you can summon, you can summon the mob for all of those items apart from the High guardians facemask and the mithril (and mithril is ridiculously simple to get straight from the bat), making re-eqing even faster and easier. You probably won't be able to request everything whilst you're a ghost but you can get a good deal, and if you haven't been full-looted and just need a few things, you can get them and still have ghost-time to do whatever you want to do. That EQ list above, although not great, can often sometimes for a Paladin if you don't have time to grab anything decent (or until you can grab something decent), even against a decked, Caballed foe (depending on who they are of course). I landed more than one kill with the above EQ set, against decked, Caballed foes, and I'm not the best PKer. :P

Please tell me if that's a little too much info.

The helm is nice. For a mage, there are one or two pieces in the dragon tower that have decent AC and boost hp. Also, the elemental bracelet is ALWAYS in, even in multiple amounts. I don't think it has AC, but still...at least it ups hp. Also, the ruby rings up hp by like twenty a piece, I think, and they're non-rare. Took me forever to find them though. I had known about them on AR, then located them here, but just...couldn't...find...them. It was very frustrating.

  • 4 weeks later...

Basic invoker re-equipping plan: get a staff, hide. Once you're ready, go and kill someone, get all corpse; wear all. Repeat as needed. Tadaa!

Edit: Take a nodisarm and/or nodrop high-level staff. For goods, there used to be a nice requestable rare one next to Val Miran. No idea if it's still there or there's something better and easier to get. For evil ones, take whatever you can get your hands on, and work your way up to melancholic sceptre and the like.

*(2) a small coin lies here.*

THis is why I liked playing Nekromna. I would die to a knight, summon two outlaws get a clay shield and a dented mace kill them and get my eq back. I seemed to kill alot more often just wearing that. That's a cleric though, they basically only need that.

when i first started becoming half-way decent in pkill i found i could always kill better when i was poorly equiped...finally i realized i was holding back to much when i was "decked" and that was giving my opponents an edge....now that i know how to equip MUCH BETTER than i did on past toons i find my pkills get better as i am not afraid to lose my gear. When i played

So personally i go 110% all out no matter what awesome gear i have *shrug*

For basic equipment, really there is no defined set...there are pieces that can sub in for other pieces...my reccomendation, explore the lesser aabahran. I personally played several different "style" toons lerning what sets worked for each...necromancer, invokers, rangers, monk all need different stats and perform differently. Another way to "improve" your game is to make a toon with identify and start your own dbase, a long time ago i made a battlemage, power ranked to 50 (excellent for eq gathering) and identified every piece of equipment i could find...there is no rule against keeping your own files of things and once you do you will be VERY happy with the results. Of course i am a very strong user of access and .net :D since i work with it for a living, but tracking things like the different saves, ac, hit/dam, health, mana, special buffs, procs like healing and poison etc and some remarks for location and mob can be a powerful

resource.

nothing beats being able to query a dbase for weapon sockets and see the stats and location of everyone in the game.

another pointer is to METHODOLICALLY explore...type area, go down the list...it seems like work at times, but boy does it let you focus on the other aspects of the game..like pkill and rp :)
