Cabal Interference

The entire thread doesn't show the reasons. Just that this is how it is.

Are people complaining about interference with cabals? To me, it just seems ludicrous to restrict cabal to cabal warfare so much. At the moment, I'm assuming it's because of a 'fairness' factor. Confirmations?

The rule applies to the uncabaled and clannies specifically. Persons not part of the cabal were involving themselves repeatedly in affairs regarding the taking, guarding, retrieving, and defending of standards. The rule is to limit their interference in a fight that does not pertain to them. It also defines the gray area that so many complained about between "cabal wars" and "PKing a cabaled person". Many complaints we were receiving from cabaled people who just got PKed claimed that they were being "interfered with", so we defined what we would consider "interfering". The rest is normal PK. Read the Divine Mandate about it. It should explain it pretty clearly.

As for the future, a change is on the horizon that will make this rule unnecessary. For the time being, it remains in place.

I read the divine mandates and the rules are explained. I was just wondering what the reasons behind them are.

Interfered with? Bah pansies! You guys are being cuddled!!!

Stop with the complaining and start with the getting better.

Addendum: I just had an image of a group of teddy bears cuddling up to a demon and a lich.

The situation that was occurring most often actually was clannies, who cannot take a standard, were attacking the cabals in groups with a cabaled person. They would then attack the cabaled person who came to defend allowing the cabaled attacker to take the standard unhindered. It was leading to rampant ganging. Additionally, we also had cabaled players lodging complaints whenever PK'd while an opposing cabal member was online, something that has no relevance to the battle for standards at all. Thus, we gave everyone clear guidance on what is, and what is not, cabal "interference".

As I said, soon this will be a moot issue. How soon, I cannot say, but the rule was intended as a stop-gap measure to improve gameplay.

That falls in the realm of cabal politics, as any action undertaken by a cabaled member has ramifications for their entire cabal. Also, the CTF warfare of standards is "game" for the cabaled. It is not cabal interference except where noted in my posts in the thread explaining the rule.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm just curious as to why it was implemented, not if it's going to be changed or what the actual rules entail.

In any case, thanks for responding to an old timer like myself. Everything's changed so much that it's hard to keep up with old hobbies.

In addition, our less mature players were using out of character connections such as AIM and MSN to coordinate the taking of standards, even if most of them involved only had characters in a cabal's clan and not in the cabal itself. For instance, imagine a Savant steals the Warmaster standard. The lone Warmaster online is unable to retrieve the standard on his own, and so calls for help through his OOC connections. So the Savant now has to fight a Warmaster, 2 Battle members, and a completely out-of-left-field character that has no good IC reason to fight the Warmaster.

The cabal warfare interference rules were implemented to prevent the above, which was happening often enough for players to complain and for us to notice that something had to be done.
