Dizz
Well... this week has been hell for me. My son had a fever for a week and it peaked Thursday at 103.5 degrees. I took him to the doctor and he didn't have good breath sounds. We got an Xray done. The radiologist thought he had a leaky lung and the doc had him admitted to the hospital. It turned out to be a BIG pneumonia instead. The thing is that my boy wasn't ACTING very sick. His oxygen and vitals were excellent. They sent him home yesterday after a second Xray. He's on a better antibiotic and his temp is down to normal. Wish me luck to get rid of this thing. I've been a nervous wreck.
The Lemming
Best of luck to you, but at least things are looking up and you know what is wrong. Pneumonia sucks, I dont have any kids but I have had it. By the way props to you kid, I was having a hard time getting out of bed to pee much less be active. Dizz
Side note.... while we were in the hospital, all the docs kept asking me about family heart conditions and asking him to touch his thumb to his arm (which I can do too). He's really tall and gangly... he's 12! Anyway, they were trying to figure out if he's got Marfan syndrome (what Abe Lincoln had). He's always been tall for his age, but you know... his dad is 6'2 and my family runs tall, even if I don't. The flexibility comes from me.
WalkingShadow
Well good luck, it always sucks having sick kids. The plus side to it though is at that age they tend to recover quick. I am still counting my blessings that my kids are not prone to sickness. Though they are still just 2 and 1 years old. Hang in there it will get better soon. Dizz
CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, it's a week since he's been in the hospital for pneumonia and he's doing great. He's not coughing much and is fairly active now. SO! To celebrate and let him act like a kid again, I took him to a department picnic. He had a great time running around playing soccer and stopped when he got winded. SO! He went to the jungle gym and played tag on it. He decided to go on the monkey bars and BAM! He missed and fell off. It turns out he broke his arm! *sigh* Another visit to the hospital (ER) and he's in a splint and getting his cast tomorrow. It looks like a clean break and in position so that is good. New problem. His pneumonia is clearing up and now ***I*** am congested and coughing up grody stuff. Dang, now on top of his 2 appts + an Xray tomorrow, I need to visit my own doc for myself. crap.
