Kinicky
I noticed that while sleeping, I can still hear and speak via emotes... is this a new bug? Or did I just discover it b/c I'm wierd and a little slow? ------- You go to sleep. <305/511hp 195/438ma 366/366mv 580tnl 14hr> -Someone speaks in some voice-, 'Give me a few hours.' <305/511hp 195/438ma 366/366mv 580tnl 14hr> TICK IN 5 SECONDS. smote -I say in some voice-, "aye -I say in some voice-, 'Aye <342/511hp 224/438ma 366/366mv 580tnl 15hr> sleep You are already sleeping. Implementor Anume Posted October 9, 2006 Implementor Report Share Posted October 9, 2006 While it is possible to hear and do them while you sleep I think it is bad rp to do so. Just think about it, if you are asleep, you won't really hear what someone is saying or hold a speech yourself (unless you do it rather blurred, talking in your sleep )
Questioner
I believe pip used to do it all the time. Pip falls asleep. Pip begins to snore loudly. I loved that little guy!
WagesofSin
Doesn't really bother me, if you can use group talk to talk to sleepers then regular emotes should be OK too. In group talk, you can even talk to people half way around the continent...
Implementor Anume Posted October 9, 2006 Implementor Report Share Posted October 9, 2006 I just knew this was coming. The difference is simple. Grouptalk is something not very realistic but done to make the game more playable/fun. You could think of it as some sort of telepathic connection with some people you work with. An emote like em jumps around, dancing and yodeling while you sleep however is just totally silly.
Mindflayer
I roleplayed my character having a nightmare and uttering the word of the person who last pk'ed him, now that was cool

The Forsaken
Yeah, I found out I could smote talks and stay hidden with Azantar. While I found it AWESOMELY COOL, the IMMs said abuse or something another...silly IMMs.
CruelEdict
Hehe...that is pretty cool, actually. Abuse? Naw. Of course, you could have smoted them something after blackjacking them! That would have been even better! Yeah, I found out I could smote talks and stay hidden with Azantar. While I found it AWESOMELY COOL, the IMMs said abuse or something another...silly IMMs.

While I found it AWESOMELY COOL, the IMMs said abuse or something another...silly IMMs. You scared me alot with that. When I played Dredrik(evil Bard) I ventreilocatated(spelling is way off) Irumeru telling people to give me 10k gold. But if kept failing so I smoted it, worked perfectly and I got rich. But it was abuse, apprently, but if you look at it at another char's perspective it is abuse. Fun and all though.
Pali
Yeah, I found out I could smote talks and stay hidden with Azantar. While I found it AWESOMELY COOL, the IMMs said abuse or something another...silly IMMs. Damn... that WOULD be awesomely cool. And I'm playing a ninja right now... damn. Wish I could do that. As for the use of emotes for sleeping, I see no problem with doing it provided it's kept within some semblance of RP reality. You want to smote sleepwalking, sleeptalking, etc. go right ahead. Could probably do some interesting stuff with that character. You want to smote having conscious conversations while you're asleep... eh, not really something I'd look positively on. Of course, I'm not an IMM, so it's up to the individual how much my opinion matters.
Kinicky
I have to agree with Eshaine. I think to actually be carrying on a conversation while asleep is bad RP - it happened this time b/c when I heard the other char speak, I assumed I was not asleep. Then when I tried to GO to sleep - found out I already was... But in the case of Azantar, I don't know why that would be considered abuse. If he talks and hides again, you won't be able to attack him, and if you have an AE spell - well, you know what room he is in if you can hear him. I like the idea of a ninja hiding in the shadows whispering things in your ear and you being like, "Wha... who's there?!?" Works for GREAT RP, especially as an assassin type class. BigMac
>sl You go to sleep. >smote stains his sheets....again. BigMac stains his sheets....again. >wak You wake and stand up. >emote looks at his pants and frowns with dismay. ...you get the point.
Pali
Exactly why I wish it wasn't considered abuse to use smotes while hidden.
Implementor Anume Posted October 9, 2006 Implementor Report Share Posted October 9, 2006 (hide) Thief is here. guy whom thief has been annoying for the past hours is here. Thief steps out of the shadows. Thief says 'You suck.' Guy bashes/slams/whatevers thief before he can hide again. The chance to catch the thief is nullified if he uses an emote speak and stays hidden. Thus abusive.
Pali
Oh, I get the balance element behind the rule. I just love the RP ideas that a thief/ninja could play around with were things otherwise.
