A Tiny Stable

This rather small hollow in the rock houses many different forms of mounts.

Each locked away in their private alcoves, the animals are often heard

moving. One man stands near a large sign, which looks important enough to

read. In his hand he holds the key to unlock the alcoves, and give you your

mount.

[Exits: east]

Amandar the Dwarven Stablemaster is here, keeping his pets under control.

Your kicked dirt misses Amandar.

Amandar is in excellent condition.

doesn't anybody actually pay attention while training anymore? i think i hit 'where pk' once every three seconds while training compared to the once every five during ranking.

The people that don't pay attention are obviously playing in the "bard fodder" style.

I have to admit, seeing that first post made me laugh. :D

*cough* Kelion *cough*

I've had times where I decided to let it run so I could go up to the store real quick for something for dinner...come back and I'm dead because I forgot I didn't have any milk for my triggers to use.

But, I was smart enough to have a trigger to quit if I died.

My suggestion is this:

Don't train if you're not going to be at the house. But don't waste your time doing it manually.

Set up triggers to wake, sleep, cast, keep casting, and feed yourself.

Stay in your chair, but play some online games, write some apps/desc

Watch tv

read a book

But, don't forget to keep checking back every now and again to see whats up and make sure no IMM is quizzing you, thinking you're really not there.

I've been banned once where I was training, went to the bathroom for one of those nice long #2s....come back and I'm summoned and rather close to getting denied.

So, don't think a quick 5 minute run to food lion up the road is gonna be too safe.

Heh.

I woul dlike to point out, however, that this was not a PK. Truth be told, here's what happened...

I was training dirt kick on my wife's computer, logged off for a bit, and finished it on my computer later. Then I turned the triggers off, and went off in search of some items. Stopped in the dwarven city to get a mount, and then decided to log off.

Later on, I logged back on my wife's computer, which I never disabled the dirt kick triggers, and they were set to go off every 30 seconds. So sitting there, I happened to dirt kick the stablemaster...

And yeah...

Took me a while staring at my dead body to realize what the hell just happened. Then I was like, "Wow. That was retarded. I should post it." And vuala! Here is the thread.

I just set up an alias thats so it doesnt acidentally go off I actually have to type ,traindirtkick to do (dir 1.; dir2.; dir 3.; dir 4; where; dir 5.; dir 6.; dir 7.; where; who pk) and sometimes if im sure I am in a really safe place or no one is in my pk at the moment I will enter it as (dir 1.; dir2.; dir 3.; dir 4; where; dir 5.; dir 6.; dir 7.; where; who pk; #WA 100000; ,traindirtkick) And during that wait time if I see anyone in the area or someone in the lands I don't trust then I will start doing it the first way and maybe cut it down so it only enters four dirt kicks.

I always attempted to master cruical defensive, evasive and a few select offensive skills/spells early on. Like, you won't enjoy failing casting sanc mid-PK, nor would you want to fail to recall. Pinpointing down an opponent that's trying to crawl away and that one flame arrow that would finish them fails? Was freaking out every time things like that happened to me. Guess that's been the reason I kind of trained almost anything...but that's a different story.

Generally I agree - many skills, including non-vital buffs (warcry, armor, stuff like that...) I train up through use. But a few skills that I want to make sure land before I get into a more heavy pk-range, I try to master early on. ie. dirt kick, bash/bodyslam, defenses, and weapons.

i confess, i'm a trainaholic. if i plan on using it... i'll spend the time to get to 100. if i don't plan on using it, i don't even practice it.

my way of thinking is:

a) i don't want to fail this spell/skill in the beginning/middle/end of a PK

B) i only have myself to blame if i die from a failed spell/skill

c) i don't like dying

but that's just me. heh.
