Dale
How was the release party. I actually reconsidered going but it was too long of a drive that late at night.

Dale
It's lame in my opinion. Half the reason I sold my ps2 and bought an XBOX, I was highly pissed with the demo. I spent 60 bucks on Dragon quest 8 for that crap, and they both sucked. Star ocen was the last good PS2 game I played.
Dale
Games I'd rather play: FF Tactics Chrono Cross Donkey kong Halo 2 via XBOX live MK Armegeddon xbox live Barney hide and go seek- sega Oh ff 4 and 5, the job system was more awesome in 5 than tactics. I'd rather play 10-2 than 12.
Zrothum
12 is awesome. If you have ever played any of the dot hack games, the fighting system is sorta like that. It's a real time combat style where the fights are not random. You walk around the world map and so do the mobs. You engage them and you use "Gambits", pretty much AI type systems to control them. Or you can do it manual if you like. They let you pause the fight to make character choices if you want, or use the AI, or control them all manually without having time to think as you make actions for the characters. It's awesome. It's harder than regular turn-based fighting systems. Harder = challenge. Challenge = fun
Iyorvin
It's like Star Ocean without having to go to a separate battle screen. Just bought the collectors edition today mwhahahah
Zrothum
Bwaha. "History of Final Fantasy" on the dvd is pretty cool.
The Forsaken
Dunno...While I love the final fantasy series, as they got me started with RPGs, I really havn't cared for any after final fantasy 7 for the ps...it was nice. You really can't beat final fantasy 2 or 3(6 in Japan) either.
Zrothum
I hated 9. 10 was okay. 10-2 was a disgrace. 8 grew on me after awhile. 11...MMORPG, bah. 12 is nice so far.
corpsestomp
Where's 7 in all of this?
spiegel06
7 is nothing compared to 6 (FFIII in america). 5 and 6 are the best in of all the series and 6 beats 5.
corpsestomp
I hated 6...I still love 7 to death.
WarriorCleric
I liked 7 and 9 alot, 8 and 10 just didn't do it for me. I'd love to try 12, but old roommates took care of the PS2 for me, so maybe we'll see somewhere down the line. WC
Iyorvin
Loved 7 and 10. To death. 7 was by far game I spent the most amount of time on. Of course, besides FL. 7 just had everything for me. Cool main character, good imediate start, good time frame, great STORY, HUGE side quests, always something more you could do. Until you beat the ultimate weapons, got all the ultimate limit breaks and ultimate weapons, and then you could move on. But even now, I still open it up and stick it in and play it through. Characters like Seph and Vincient, just can't be beat.
corpsestomp
I think the only thing I didn't do on a game before it got erased, was kill Ruby.
WarriorCleric
Characters like Seph and Vincient' date=' just can't be beat.[/quote'] Cid and Red for me, though I must admit, back on AR, I had a few characters I tried to stylize after Vincient, ah my easily pliable imagination of youth. Iyorvin
I could see how you like Cid. Just your type eh? And that's why I liked 7, it had a character for everyone. The silent badass, the tech badass, the macho baddass, the compasionate, the sexy, the animal badass.......it was just so perfect. And the game was designed so you could play your 3 characters you loved oh so much and didn't even have to bother with the rest very much.
Grumpy
Seeing all the glowing reviews for 6 I might have to check it out someday. But out of the four ffs I have played. 9 and 7 was the best, 8 was fun, but I really hated Squall and the floating academy was kindof sad. 10 IMO was so boring because the combat system screwed it up big time. Having to swap in Lulu and Yuna so hit the enemies for like 1 damage every fight in order to rank them up got repetitive fast. I wish FF would go back to its fantasy roots. The Forsaken
7 is nothing compared to 6 (FFIII in america). 5 and 6 are the best in of all the series and 6 beats 5. FF3(America) had the best grafics for SNES I had ever seen, and is one of my favorites. But I'd actually have to go with 2 being a better game. The story line was just utterly amazing. I figuratively pooped my pants many times through that game, from when Kain got brainwashed, then came back, then stole the crystals. Then when I thought Yang died. Then of course the two twin wizards that turned themselves into stone to save your life. I spent forever and a half thinking there was a way to save them because the little item menu came up when you tried to talk to them. FF2 was great...5 doesn't even compare. The Forsaken
And I didn't even mention when Rydia pops out of nowhere to save your sorry tail from Golbez. Man, that was a great game.
Zrothum
FFIII runs a close second to 7, for me.
The Forsaken
Nice graphics, two people with big swords, and a guy with a gun for an arm. Yeah, 7 was great.
Fear, the Angel's Name
7 and 8 are my all time favorites, with 2 and 3 running a close second. I love all the Final Fantasy games though, I have played every single one of them except X-2, as it is a sham. The only one I did not really get as hyper about playing as much as the others was 5, but still, it was a FF game. It rocked.
