Ex-D&Der
Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but when the history refers to the shade wars, was that the time when shades were appearing in Val Miran, attacking people, and then disappearing--which ended with the destruction of Conclave and the expulsion of evils from Val Miran--or was it a war that took place before that? Mudder
No. Thats the shade wars. Those damn shades were annoying. Killed a few of my chars. Lets bring 'em back!

Chayesh
No. Shade wars won't be back. We've got something better (or worse, depending on perspective) planned.
WarriorCleric
Little known fact, but the shade wars all started when a Noble in Val Miran was trying to close his window, but he was using venetian blinds as a window shade, and we all know the difficulties of shotty venetian blinds, so the noble fought with the poor quality blinds, or shades if you will, through out the night. Upon the twelveth chime of midnight, he declared that he wouldn't rest until all shades, refering of course to the window shades, would be banished from the lands. Now, no one would really believe that a mere noble would have the ability to call for such a Jihad, but the passing shade of a chicken, a ghost, heard what the noble said and misunderstood it for a evangelical campagin against his breathren, and just to prove a point started to act as a poultrygeist in the house of the noble, and informed, with a slightly embelished story, the other shades he knew about this declaration. And if any of us have ever told a lie, we know that a little fib can be blown out of proportion, so by the time it got to the attention of the Nameless, it was a complicated tale of Purity and Banishment, to which, of course, a nameless entity of evil can not just let go. And even if he saw the ruse of it all, his entire populace of shades and undeads and such didn't, so inaction would have lead to impeachment, and who wants that? A far better political move to go about and try to kill everyone than to be impeached. So there is the whole truth. WC

MeleeCrazy
I witnessed the shade wars not personally but through a friend...I could be wrong but didn't Viri get rid of conclave because it's members save a few were working together with almost unstoppable force. I think he wanted them to fight alone...Like i said i could be wrong...if only NPC_DEATH were here he'd clarify. Or who played Hershnai...? They'd know.... FatMike
they weren't working together persay, but they were just ridiculously overpowered and rarely(if ever) got beat. It's been along time but I remember dieing plenty to Calandra, OM's cleric, Hersnaie......phew. Brings back some unpleasant memories.

FatMike
I think you're right, Rasep did rove around Val Miran kicking butt. Might have been more and I remember Viri stepping in and making it so you didn't lose exp when those shades kicked your behind, at least I think I remember that.
