Rensvert
Alright so the other night me and Valek were discussing the Great Greek Thebian plays (think Oedipus). And how the play Antigone takes place at the end of the Trilogy but was wrote long before the two plays that come before it. Now most people do not agree with me when I say that Antigone should be read before the others which brought me to think about Starwars. And Now after disscussing this with most people I know I am forced to ask the question that if you knew someone who didnt know a thing about Starwars what movies would you tell them to watch first would it be the old greats Episode IV, V, VI or would you be with the modern fans and tell them I, II, III. Personally I think one should watch Episodes IV, V, and VI first for serveral reasons and not just because the new Starwars really werent all that good but because the story just flows better that way. I think the story works better taken from the middle and after you know who all of the charecters are going back and getting a begging story to them. I mean to be honest most people probably wouldnt have cared so much about who Anakin was except for the fact everyone knew what he did in the later movies. Maybe I'm just favoring the older movies or maybe its because my major is Literature who knows. I just think the story made more sense and it worked better as a story when you watch them in filming order.
WarriorCleric
Here is what I tell people who haven't seen Star Wars; 'Watch the originals first, then if you really like the whole star wars deal, watch the new ones.' They so should have gone low tech on the special effects for the prequels. WC

Rensvert
I much perfer the term Geek, after all Nerds sometimes do things that are useful or know things that are helpful but to be honest in the real world no one really cares that you can name every actor and screewriter for the original Starwars movies

quite_mime
I have always said that you should watch IV, V, VI first. After all they are by far the superior ones in the whole story. True the story does fit better and at least this way your no going from High Tech, to Low Tech, but the other way around. I would thing this would be easier for people to grasp. After saying that however, I have also always wanted to get someone's opinon who watched them from the very start, episode I and see what they thought of the whole thing. If they saw things coming that we already knew were coming. Just a thought.
elfdude
my old lady hasn't seen any of them, but I doubt I could convince her to watch all of them at once
Rensvert
A friend and I wanted to watch all of them in a row before but that plan kinda failed however we have managed to pull off all three extended cuts of Lord of the Rings back to back to back before and that makes for one Heck of a good time. BigMac
The LotR movies actually bored the hell out of me the second time I (tried to) watch them. Maybe I just have a short attention span. Also, in the last movie...that 20 minutes where the hobbits look like they're about to start making out is one of the gayest things I've seen in a long time. Rensvert
No you spelled Tolkien right but I am a huge fan of Tolkien from a Literary perspective he was a brilliant man he not only wrote a wonderful story but he created his own little world. Which is a feat few others can make claim too. But I am a big fan of everything that man wrote I really liked his short story Leaf By Niggle which I highly recomened to everyone. myrek
Well Thanks Im from a nice little place in the middle of nowhere Michigan but the weather sure is nice. how 'bout them buckeyes? The "first" three movies were trash and contradicted the original three. everyone should see the original three for no other reason than they are a solid piece of modern tradition. the other three... why put them through it?
