WarriorCleric
Give windows defender a try, I like it. It's from microsoft, but was GIANT Anti Spyware before microsoft bought it. Also the old classics: Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy As far as anti viruses I hear very good things about AVG WC
Chayesh
Ad-aware and Spybot are my pillars of defense. They are free and work great. I've always preferred McAfee for anti-virus, myself.
Lailanni
Thanks! I downloaded them all and I think I'm gonna go ahead and fork out the money for AVG after the holidays.

Lailanni
There are trial versions, but none that are completely free from what I could see. I'll have to look again.

Chayesh
The reason I usually choose McAfee over Norton, just limiting myself to the "Big 2", is that once you purchase McAfee, you can continue to use and get updates to it until it goes EOL. Norton makes you purchase once a year to continue getting virus definition updates. At least, that's how McAfee used to be. They might have changed. A prime LEGIT source for a TON of software and utilities, www.download.com.
BigMac
http://www.suse.com/ <- use Linux. Then you can "hax" that person.
Talcian
I like Bullguard pretty good. Only problem is my 60 days are about to run out. Then you have to purchase it.

Otherwise I'd be on some other program myself. WC
