Hair Advice

I'm thinking of growing a shag, but I need some help. Do I just not get a haircut for a long time, or what? Do I get sideburns trimmed once in a while (it's kind of annoying when the hair on the side starts sticking out all over the place)? How do I style it when I do get to that point? Do I need to grow it long, then get a haircut and tell them to do "shag"? Probably a couple other questions I haven't thought of as well, so any advice is appreciated.

Well, it depends honestly. I've currently been working the shag since the beginning of August or so. If you're growing the shag -truly- to show you just don't care (as I have), then trimming wouldn't be wise. However, I believe the overrall 'good looking' shag requires some kind of styling involving trimming on the neck and some kind of styling with your hair. It'd be wise to get to a point where you think your hair is pretty shaggy, go to a hair salon or something and ask them what is best to do with it to keep the shagginess but add some style to it and not just look like you don't give a damn. Just my two cents

But seriously' date=' i've had this haircut for awhile and I can't think of another one i'd want to change it to... Besides, long hair is what we call... "Gay" even if your "straight."[/quote']

We don't use the term 'gay' but I do know what you mean. :P My hair is similar, cut short (though not really short, still has a tiny bit of length on it) and then I just slam on a bit of texturising paste and mess it up. Takes no time at all. It really irks me, because I have a friend who stands in front of the mirror for about 40 hours just prodding bits of hair with a finger until it looks perfect. We always make that special 'extra effort' to just wait until he's done and then just mess it all up with a wet floor-mop or something and he goes ballistic. :D

Yeah I had a cousin who had to stand in front of a mirror for 30 or 40 mins to straighten his hair so he could have it "shag/homosexual."

Though it all depends on your "group." Wether your preppy, gothic, punk/emo, etc.

And contrary to popular belief your group exists even out of highschool, just less. We call it social class out of high school, however.

So in short? Be cool and trendy. Short hair!

But if your doing the long hair route, be ready to spend some time on it. It's not "roll over and wake up" type of hair.

Yeah, it does definately, but there are always exceptions.

Anyway, both long hair and short hair can be trendy. Just that some people can pull something off, others can't. I once grew my hair, a long time ago, and I looked like a complete idiot. :D

EDIT@Mindflayer: The mistake you made, was going to London. :D North of England is where it's at.

What ever you do, love your hair as much as you can, because maybe someday you'll wake up, and some of it won't be there anymore.

Just saw this post, but he's right. I recall seeing a guy I hadn't seen in a couple years and the first thing I say is:

"Kasey, what happened? *rub at thick imaginative hair*"

"Devin, what happened? *rubs his overly large imaginative stomach*

"Okay, you win."

I love long hair on men... under 25. My husband had the tarzan hair during that age and I loved it until he did nothing but a pony tail with it. Where's the fun in that?!?!?! His hair was as long as mine (mid back). I must say though, that once he got it cut he looked a lot more respectable. Short hair looks more professional and should be had when you are looking for a serious job. Before that point, have fun with it while you can!

Hey dude, im growing my hair out again. Easiest way to do it is just cut you're hair short so everything is the same length...... then just let it grow! I used to have it pretty long, all you really have to do is run your fingers through it to get the knots out and shampoo/condition it every once in a while. Its really not much harder than that.
