Well, I've been spending most of my time in WoW lately. I finally got into a guild that is progressing at the same rate as I am, we've been raiding MC for a while and just starting to look at BWL and We've got ZG and AQ20 on farm status. Is it amazing what this guild has done? Nah, but it's perfect for me. I'm fairly casual, laid back, and that's what these guys offer.

I play a holy priest(think healer but with no PK survivability) horde side and I'm loving it. I play on an RP server, I can rp with the rp crowd when I feel the need to, and I have a decent group of people for that, and I have my crowd for when I just wanna get some **** done.

I have decent enough gear that the Auction house if for making money and buying consumables, I rarely, if ever, look at the armor or weapons tab. I feel as though I have accomplished a lot of things with my character that I didn't think I would for a long time. Basicly, I feel like I've made good of the fun I've been having.

I always here a lot of badmouthing of WoW from mudders. 'It's to repetitive' well, yeah... all games like this are going to be repetitive in some ways. But how much more repetitive is it than FL? What is the area progression to level an evil character from 1 to 50?

What is the area progression to level a good character from 1 to 50? What equipment do you get after you've been looted in pk? When you hit level 50, what areas do you goto to get new equipment? How many nymphs did you kill when leveling in Emerald forest? How many of you remember the path you took while leveling in the emerald forest? I do. South till you cant, east till you cant, north south, west a little, back down south, follow around south west and back north on the west side, swing east midway, and then leave for repop if needed. Do that a hundred times and I might be ready for a new place to play. How many of you are going to answer those questions drastically different from the next? Is WoW repetitive? In many cases, you bet. I had to turn in 960 dark iron residue today to get more reputation with a faction in the game. I had to turn them in 4 at a time, at 5 seconds a turn in, that was 20 minutes of clicking on a mob, clicking on a question button, clicking ok, clicking complete. Was it meant to be done at once? No, meant to be done over a long period of time. Did I have to do it all at once? Not at all. I decided to do it that way. And don't ask what I had to do to get all that residue. Many many BRD runs. But the runs were more than just collecting residue, a lot more, a lot of fun too.

'You've got to pay when you can get muds for free' First, 15 dollars a month. That's an hour of work for me, after taxes. I think I can hack that once a month. I play over twenty hours of WoW a week, so thats 80 hours a month? That's 19 cents an hour. I get my utility out of it easy. MUDs are free, true, but are they worth 15 dollars a month? Some of them are, is FL? Perhaps, but how many of you donate 15 dollars a month to FL? Quite simply, you get what you pay for. I pay 15 bucks a month and I expect to get a seemingly endless supply of places to explore (new stuff continually being added that I may never see, but I know that the end is not in sight), I expect continual, round the clock upkeep of the game, and I get exactly what I pay for. When I sign into FL, I expect to feel at home, I expect things to be relatively the same as when I last left it, if a new area or class is in, that's amazing and I am happy and excited, but I'm not paying, so if I don't get it, I'm not left in a tuff thinking 'What the hell is Behrens problem?'

And RP, I don't know, but you guys just aren't looking very hard if you aren't getting RP in WoW. I was in a guild, we would meet every wednesday, sometimes in the chapel in a dead town for a new Sermon from the Forsaken(undead), sometimes on the beach and have a party, and we would have our own little healers tea party on the island sessions, and a couply times we dressed up as pirates and raider the Alliance towns on the coast. My first social event on WoW was a Masquerade Ball (since then I have updated my graphics card and I get 10 times better graphics). Sure, many asshats don't rp on the rp servers, but with 7 million people playing WoW, a decent portion of those on rp servers are there to rp at some level, and atleast a decent fraction of them are some serious, hardcore, dare I say better than most of you, RPers. To find them? Try the realm forums.

Now don't get me wrong, FL is great, and I loved the time I spent and the time I still do spend here, but I got burnt out on it a while ago, and then I took a position where I could see behind the curtains, and that can really disenchant you. I know I won't find a better mud than FL anywhere. The staff, minus a few exceptions, has always been amazing, the community has been close nit, and over all it's been amazing.

Anyways, On Thorium Brotherhood, Horde Side. If you need a holy priest, 300 tailor/ 300 enchanter, give me a PM, I still fly in here sometimes.

The only reason I play this MUD instead of something else at this point isn't for the PK (I'm the one trying things like half-elf warriors...to win at PK at this point, all I really need to do is roll some power combo and abuse it) and it certainly isn't because of the RP. The RP has been adequate, but never high on the quality level, even compared to other MUDs. This is because the MUD runs on a PK timer and so things go quickly. Which is why I play. It'd be hard to mix quality RP and PK, and this MUD has chosen 80/20 PK/RP (which does work for me honestly).

So why am I here? The community.

No no, not all you dales and elfdudes in particular, although I would probably quit very quickly if the forum ever went away. I play FL instead of something like WoW because I can BEAT this game. In WoW, I could never be somebody..could never accomplish more than the xx million other players. In FL, you guys make me look good. :P

Sure, there are some things I do need to learn yet in FL (liches for one), but for the most part, I have this MUD figured out I think (with my debatable phD in FL with all these years spent..).

So I play MUDs because the playerbase is small so I can be an outstanding member of the community and can have a direct influence on defining what the game is and where it will go.

I've been playing MUDs for 16 years now (since I was five thankyouverymuch), but I'm certain this is the last MUD of somebody else's that I will play.

WoW is a blackhole. You get a lot of fun, but it just sucks it out. Great for a time waster and pure entertainment...for me, I need to be actively producing ALONG WITH passively playing.

The right answer is so easy... You want to get the girl you have to give her the one thing all girls love. Shopping sprees. This is a win-win, they leave the house for several hours/days. And when they get back they are all hopped up on whatever they give them at shopping malls and they want to model all the latest Victoria's Secret purchases they made.

Of course I live a charmed life and my luck is legendary.
