goldbond
i think our news is basically like orwell's 1984, where whenever we bomb somebody, they're "alkaeda," and that's the end of it. it's literally as absurd as a novel now. in fact most of the major media is so absurd and simplistic, that their feeble rationalizations make me wonder how stupid they think "the public" is. then again the public is pretty stupid. elfdude
true dat, people don't look any further than whats fed to them, and even if thats all they get they couldn't draw a line to whats really going on. oh well, at least I'll go out in a hail of gunfire. Zrothum
The Somalian PRESIDENT has given us his support. We are not attacking his country, we claim to be, searching for suspects in a bombing years ago.

Questioner
It really isn't that the people in Somalia are tearing it apart. It is the militants and the warlords who could care less about the multitude of innocent children they are slaughtering in their battles. To protect the people is not the United State's responsibility. However, if we are to aid them in anyway, I do hope bush (or the next president in 08) doesn't send troops in to "hold the fort." As shown in Iraq, if we are going to win against terrorists/warlords the full force and effort needs to be placed in that campaign. Sadly the U.S. population is not as united in the war efforts as they were in World War two.
Valsgarde
I don't care the slightest bit about how poor that country is, how many children are starving over there, or how many people are killed in biannual government coupes, or even how much they hate America. I don't care whatsoever at all about Somalia (or any African or Middle Eastern country, except for South Africa). Why should we aid them? It's absurd, we shouldn't aid anyone except for our closest allies. We won't benefit at all from it. Would you send your son to go die so that a handful of Somalians will live? I wouldn't. My bloodline is sacred to me, and it won't end so that people that have nothing to do with me half way around the world can live a better life. If you're so hellbent on helping people, why don't you donate to charity; it'd probably be a first for you. Have you ever given money to our country's OWN homeless and starving? Should we not take care of our OWN people before we feed the single foreign starving person? We've got a hard-on for stomping mudholes in Islamic radicals in the Middle East. Aside from being cowardly (Americans were all ready to go beat down North Korea, then they found out they got their hands on the bomb. What do you hear about the war-drum beating regarding North Korea now? Nothing. Cowards, Americans will only fight other nations that have no feasible ability to defend themselves), we'll NEVER beat any of the problems facing "us" in the Middle East because we're not fighting a group of people, we're fighting an IDEAL, which is stronger than any army. They hate us because we're hypocrites that support Israel. Why not just stop supporting Israel? If we didn't support Israel, 9/11 wouldn't have happened, the thousands of troops that have died overseas would still be alive, the countless thousands of Middle Easterners we've slaughtered would still be alive, etc. With the overall deathcount as high as it is, with everyone losing thousands and thousands of people simply because we support Israel, then supporting Israel should obviously be worth the lives lost. Why do we? Why have we? What have we gained from supporting them? Because look at what we and everyone else have lost because of it.

Aulian
Mixed feelings. Comming from (South) Africa I know what its like for a whole population to basically rape and pillage the country and its own people and I know how terrible that can be. However, Whilst I believe that those who are able should do what they can to help others in the world, I mean, common we all in this together right and some people are born into that without an escape. BUT I also know that there are people out there who just **** it up for everyone else, thats their only purpose in life. No matter what they are given they will spend it on woman an booze and then go back to ****ing **** up. So yeah I dont know about that, but I have to say taht personally I feel America is a really big meddler in world politics, often sticking its nose into places I reckon it has **** all reason for being there. J.Twendrist
The last time we went there, all we did was get a lot of American troops shot to pieces, and then bring them home without accomplishing anything. Kind of a pointless waste of life if you ask me. Out of curiosity, how many of you have seen V for Vendetta? In my oppinion the U.S. has begun to kind of match up with some of the things that happened in that movie. Kind of scary.
