mya
A DK might be the best one. Chose human with adventurer perk for faster ranking. Paladins dont have dirt kick wich will ruin your ranking untill 20-25. On your second character make the evil/good cleric. DK can teatch you the basic of meele and magic. That is why it is so good. Summon means that you will not need to walk all the way to get the potions/items you need. Strong ofense, and good defense. Lots of weapons. And they can eat warriors on low ranks due to ******Lightning Bolt*******. I used to eat ogre warriors at breakfeast, when i could not get cornflakes. And at 30 they are the most powerfull class in the game (in the hands of an experienced player).
Deykari
Druid I say... We should all play druids. <3 you Dey, This comment was for you Yeah, if you want to play a Druid, give Aulian a shout and get him to send you his own custom-programmed MUD client called DruClient.exe Basically, you pick a name, then either human or werebeast, then it automatically goes through the rest of the character creation process and creates you a ranger at rank 1. Fiere
I could have sworn you leave it on overnight and it keeps going, giving you a rank thirty druid at the end.
L-A
And at 30 they are the most powerfull class in the game (in the hands of an experienced player). IMHO Necromancers are stronger at 30 until about rank 40 than anyone. Zerks and DKs included. Of course, they aren't as easy to play.... Zrothum
I could have sworn you leave it on overnight and it keeps going' date=' giving you a rank thirty druid at the end.[/quote'] No, that was my FL-ranker from a Diablo-esque char_loader that I used when I was trafficking characters on Ebay in 2002. Dizz
I say you should play a Ogre Ranger for exploring. You get healing and survivability against unknown mobs. Use this for PK/challenges at first. If you challenge people to a duel, the opponant is usually helpful and usually leaves your stuff if you lose. (True with my WM) Once you have explored a bit, roll a cleric to identify all the goodies you discovered while exploring. The spells is a good way to learn how to depend on magic to survive. Chromatic
Honestly, at 30, I've never seen a zerker lose a battle. I've been afk and killed people with my zerker. Because I killed them before their initial lag was up. So if you don't think you'll make it to pinn, and just want a starting char to learn the lands a bit with, I'd go with a giant sized zerker. And that includes Necros and all their little sleep then mals.
Fiere
Greatest thing I ever saw: I had a mino zerker, necro summons me from my group into a locked room. I immediately charge him, three rounds or so and he's dead. Didn't have a prayer.
brsingr
I'd say a goodstarter combo (no one will agree w/ me) Is a feral ninja w/ IG friends. EDIT:I played nyoboe, first I got up to lv 48 before rage deleting
Chromatic
Never played a mino, what size are they? I always thought they were medium.
Mister E
Mino are giant I am pretty sure, only they dont have the same perks as the other giants, but they have no vuln either, I played a mino zerk a long time ago, they are pretty buff but not sure if they are worth the huge exp pen just for a nice charge
delfytheelfy
I have played many mino serks and necros to 30. Smart Necro > Smart Mino Serk Avg Mino Serk > Average Necro
Mister E
i dont think its that clear cut. If the necro comes in undetected and lands a sleep, it is over for the zerk, if the zerk catches the necro off guard it could be over VERY fast for the necro. If they are both expecting each other, well, id say the necro has a slight edge. Unless it is a low hp race, at rank 30 they wont be able to take much damage at all. Mister E
To answer the initial question, you can actually learn a LOT as a thief. I have learned a ton playing thieves, you learn where to get supplies, you learn about cool supplies you never heard off from robbing others, you learn to run real well when you get caught, and you learn a lot about timing, strategy, and have a ton of fun in the process. Fiere
I'm with you. Everything I know about consumables I learned from playing a thief. I.E., importance of, most of the locations, and how much of a difference they can make. You can learn a ton about strategy, tactics and reflexes as well that way. You gotta go for kills rather than just stealing anything and everything though, otherwise you won't learn quite as much. It gets really fun when your oponent knows how and actually takes steps to prevent being blackjacked. For instance, thief verses smart cleric at thirty is a really fun fight.
