well if your a straight mage' date=' go for the beast saves and moderate ac, you can buff your ac with many items, if your a melee, I say go allllll hit dam, cause no matter WHAT your saves are, you WILL get hit with something, or you WILL fail a save, BUT if you have a monster hit dam, they do not have the time to try to pummel you with lots of damage. Thats just my take though.[/quote']

This is why the shaman class exisits - to kill people like this :-) And yes, they can do it and easily if they know what they are doing.

-400ac is a nice number, I've been to -600ac+ on a bmage, but a lot of its just showing off.... Some of the bmage -ac spells do more than just lower your ac as well.....

-350 through -400 ac is good. Stay around there. No need for more. I believe Viri said anywhere past -400 isn't going to do much. I am not a fan of HP gear. Mostly because if you have great AC - Saves, you won't need the extra HP.

My Necro had -420 ac and -60 saves across the board, with no special eq. I had Invokers doing lacerates, with hellstream. So I didn't really need any special HP.

So AC > HP

Saves > HP

HP > Hit/Dam

This is for a Mage/communer in my book. Unless your an FG Cleric. You bastard.

I was trying to accomplish something, it wasn't meant to be long term. I wasn't sure you'd know how to capitalize so quickly. Heh, had I known I was fighting Celerity I would have been a little more cautious.

Well hey, I was trying to see if my high speed race car could make the super sharp turn, it usually works out well. That time I happened to crash and burn pretty badly. *shrug*

50/50 hit/dam? Yeah right. I was having a hell of a time landing attacks on rangers/warriors as it was. Ugh, Thandaeus was NASTY with his staff.

I didn't think there was a cap... Though I'm sure it was made that you get dimishing returns after a certain point...

Pssh thats just a rumor L-A, anyone remember when Sirant and Mhalador went at in Val Miran? The were hitting annhilates, eradicates and even some unspeakables in straight melee...anything is possible....if you're an imm

I wish i could have 1000 AC.

I think i never hited 500 mark.

But HP is a lot better than AC.

Only for insane amounts of AC does it compensates HP.

Unless you are a halfling healer that only fights mobs...

Hit/Dam

Keep pumping them. I wish i could get 30/100. It would steamroll anyone.

Ac > Hp for some classes, especially for ones who can heal.

For a cleric who is an elf or similar class, if he is healing 100 damage and taking 150, dying is still inevitable, just slower.

If he adds an extra -200 ac to the mix, he might heal 100 hp and take only 80, meaning he's actually staying in perfect heath.

And the "intimate" knowledge of the fighting system is not how most of the vets/elites I know have ever gotten powerful. Code power and pk power aren't the same ;).

P.S. I had -650 Ac once, a savant invoker kicked my *** SOOO bad...ugh, it was terrible.

'Wow' date=' i've never had a hit/dam over 30/20, my ac has never been over 150, and my saves never over (under?) -10. that might explain a few things.[/quote']

Yup, other than saves, that's about where I play. But I don't play melees unless I feel like wasting a couple hundred hours of my life.
