TheNewGuy
Sorry to say it, but it IS lazy to refuse doing clan quests. Don't have to do a hundred. Making ten takes a few minutes, and should have taken Ut into warmaster together with all those challanges.
Implementor Anume Posted January 26, 2007 Implementor Report Share Posted January 26, 2007 I think what people fail to see is that doing some clanquests would in most cases have gotten them in weeks earlier than they got in without (If they got in at all). So all in all it saves yourself time.

Chromatic
I actually made it halfway through one quest that sent me to steel on a lvl25 oak. I'm sittin here thinkin, if I can make this it's automatic promotion to V, I know it. So here I am scanning and moving along. And I get one room away from the mob, and a magi walks into the room and fries me. So now I only do those quests if I'm at pinn.
Mindflayer
I dislike the quest that makes you visit the old mage in the faction of magic, that is scary.
Kyzarius
clan quests, origional rp, and pkill skills alltogether get you in a cabal faster than you might even want to. If you excel at one more than the other it balances out. The best thing is to be consistent. Also i have found i was less likely to make cabal if i had multiple characters. It seems the focused presence of one main toon all the time helps a lot. My last like ten pinns all have made cabals, just takes consitency and presence in the above areas. The biggest thing is not to go missing for 3 or 4days at a stretch... clan elders and leaders can see how long you've been gone, and personally from being in that position myself if i know of you as someone who is gone 3 days, then on 1 then gone 3 days all the time i tend not to vote for you...or promote you when i am ranked high enough to do so. Though in truth i can only geuss at what the imms each look for...but i seem to find that sweet spot of attention more often than not, and these are the guidelines i use to get my pinn's cabaled. Chromatic
I think people really do underestimate how much RP can help you get into cabal. I've been sitting there chatting it up and all and suddenly someone winks and I get the promoted message. It's also about solid RP, not changing up every time you log on. And being active regularly. I mean, what good are you to a cabal war if you're only on two hours a week to fight. By the same token, I also think your previous characters can have a bit to do with it. If you're one of the take a death due to a gang and rage delete or something, they tend to look at that.
Deykari
By the same token' date=' I also think your previous characters can have a bit to do with it. If you're one of the take a death due to a gang and rage delete or something, they tend to look at that.[/quote'] From the experiences I've seen with the Imms, I'd say that (at least I hope) they don't do that. Which is a good thing. People mature and change over the course of their "FL career" and I'd like to think that each character is judged individually, and not have any decisions made for them based on their previous characters. Mister E
I'd like to think that too Dey, but I doubt it. You ever notice how some chars get cabaled really fast? Then when they post its usually the same people. Of course this isnt to say they arent just doing everything right, but then again they have cabal experience, cuz someone let them in one once. TheNewGuy
Those who tend to get in very fast is those who have learned how to impress the imms I think. I for myself wouldn't want it to be too easy. The challange of getting in is a part of the fun.
Malchaeius
Malchaeius's opinions and cabal analogies Cabals are like frats. Clan quests = initiation. Cabals are like careers. Clan quests = intern/entry-level work. Cabals are like a sports team. Clan quests = the stuff they make rookies do. Sure a lot of it is tedious, but it shows that you really want it and you are willing to put your characters pride aside and do them. It shows dedication. Can you get in without doing clan quests? Sure. But you better do a damn good job of making a name for yourself. My priorities for Cabal prospects are like this: 1. Dedication 2. Regular Attendance 3. PK & RP One of my pet peeves are people who get caballed and delete within the week. It makes me feel jaded for even wasting the spot on someone who did not really appreciate it. This is just for the general knowledge of the playerbase.

You're gonna make his other char's work extra hard to get in or not let them in at all? You guys tell the other imms about someone who consistantly acts this way? To add to this line of thinking: I've always thought that clan quests were like the low-calorie version of cabal defense, i.e. The clan master has a task that needs doing and, if you are RPing correctly, you'll bust your butt to do it; similar to when your defender yells for you to come defend, but without the more dire consequences. If you're really trying to prove your worth to people you want to dedicate your life to defending, not doing clan quests is not just lazy, but crap RP. savnt
Not to be contradictory, but I will be contradictory. If you want to take rp in to consideration, I will paint a couple pictures. The first : scenario #1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- You stand in the center of a ring of giants, and other battle hardened races. The cry of battle can be heard all about you, when you are approached by the grizelled clan master of your group. Amidst the bloodlust you find yourself in, you feel someone poking you in the side of your ribs. You swing your mighty axe at your foe once more, before the poking finally becomes too bothersome to ignore. As you turn, the nasally voice of the clan master reaches your ears. "Ut? Would you mind running to a hobbit in the shire, grab a jewel, and dart over to Val Miran for me? It is a challenging journey, riddled with puzzles and danger. Travel safely. I would suggest a cup," he rasps. "uT sTOop cHaAlenge aT onNCe," you quickly reply! You throw your weapons down, ceasing your fight or seeking others. Before you is a road bereft with peril. You've no time for battle right now. -------------------------------------------------- Scenario #2 ---------------------------------------------------- Stalking your prey for what seems like months, you've finally gained enough knowledge of their movements to take action. A trained assassin, your reflexes and strikes are deadly, as your mark is about to learn. The bounty is great, gold and clothing you've dreamt about for age. This without a doubt will be your greatest trophy. The head of the leader of the Nexus. A gargoyle head, living stone, it is a head none the less. At this point, it is your head. You need only act. You begin to slink in the shadow, within the faction of blood, to his location. It is not an easy task. You've needed to vanish several times to avoid the onslaught of aggressive thieves and stay upon him. His flashfires also have been a worry. Suddenly, a voice is in your head. "Kurx, report immediatly to a Gremlin in Emerald Forest, and back to me in Miruvhor." It is the voice of your clan master. Without hesitation, you walk east, and tip your hat to Morchial. You've better things to do. A flick of the wrist produces a potion of recall from your backpack. It reaches your lips, and you are gone. Some things are more important than bounties. Things like important documents held by Gremlins in Emerald Forest. --------------------------------------------------------------
Nekky
These reasons assume that clan quests only pop up when you're at the pivotal moment of a PK, or when you're right in the middle of doing something else equally important. This is not true to begin with, 90% of the clan quests I do pop up when I am just idling around. Secondly, I don't see any cabal Imms demanding that you must drop everything to do a clan quest - that's why you usually get between one and three days to do them. Finally, though these reasons are sound in theory, they come off as being conveniently constructed situations to be used as a justification by someone who is not really doing these things, but just can't be arsed doing a bit of clan questing. Kyzarius
yeah, those comparisos are also out of context and misleading... Vorqwuith got into nexus for bringing a knight elders head to sirican...i was trusted, but hadnt done a clan quest in a long while, actually was just come back from a 6 day absence...but had asked what i could do and got the task. i did it sirican put in a word and i was cabaled.
