WagesofSin
I was wondering: If a ranger switches to the druid class at lvl 30, does he get back the practices used to learn skills of the ranger class which the druid does not have? Mister E
Ive never done it, but I am almost certain thats a no.
Pali
Going healer/shaman from cleric gives you back half of the practices used on the cleric-only skills/spells. I'd guess that ranger->druid works similarly.
wolfeman
Pali is correct.
Grumpy
I can affirm that you get half of your practices back. But Druids are gimped. Stick with rangers.
Balinor
I won't say they're gimped, but I had a VERY hard time fighting with Errionik, particularly blademasters.
Warpnow
When going healer, only elves get practices they spent back, I believe.
Warpnow
What?!?!?! Druids are clerics who can hit...they are powerhouses, but there are some "annoying" things about them.
Icor
Druids are solid as hell. Very hard to take them down if they're played right.
WagesofSin
Well, either way. I look forward to trying one out...now if only I could find that damn druid....
Pali
When going healer' date=' only elves get practices they spent back, I believe.[/quote'] My dwarf healer in 1.0 did, as did more recent human/duergar/drow shamans. Can't see any reason it'd have changed, or why it'd be elves only... they can afford the loss of pracs, whereas a dwarf/halfling/human can't as easily. krounoi
The reason elves would get all their practices back is because they use only one practice per skill/spell. You get one practice per skill/spell lost, so a fire giants, who take three practices to be learned, would only get 1/3 of their practices back. Pali
Oh, when talking about getting ALL practices back, maybe it's just elves/drow... I was responding to him saying "only elves get practices they spent back", which I took to mean ANY practices.
Dizz
I had a lot of fun with my druid, but the ranking was tough. I had so much fun dodging PKers with him.
Balinor
Yeah, that's another thing. Took me forever to pinn. Granted, that might be because when I played him, there were a crapload of mages, and very few competent melees.
Guest Dogmeat
Druids can tank. I've hunted with a level 40 druid who was tanking the 5 evils in drkshtyre.
Grumpy
Well I see druids as cleric minus protective shield, healing, minsiter and protective shield. On paper at least they are worse off. The last one is particularly painful because of bash bash bash.... or bodyslam bodyslam bodyslam........ Also they can't go to far off places to get the good armors because of y********. But the rp might appeal to some and gating off and mouthing your enemy can be fun once in a while. Good luck on your druid!
Chayesh
Druids have always been, in my opinion, the true bane of the good communing classes (most of them). Many of them, including healers, have much less weaponry against a neutral than an evil.

I think you make a better point by replacing Druids with Neutrals.
Chayesh
Because, in my opinion, druids are the neutral equivalent protectively of a healer without the alignment weakness. Again, just my opinion from fighting them and watching them fight others.

Good luck on your druid![/quote'] Keep in mind that lagging your opponent is only feasible if you are outdamaging them every round. I have seen and experienced cases where the druid was more than happy to let his opponent bash/bodyslam because the druid has no trouble doing more damage. While this applies to any class, druids do have a few additional advantages: 1) Spells/skills that do unblockable damage to the enemy 2) Spells/skills that can bump a druid's AC to -400 (and possibly higher) even without uber equipment (i.e. druid's wearing teeth necklaces and titanium bracers, for instance). Druids have been known to have higher than -600 AC. 3) Possibility for very highly defensive weapon/shield combination Try playing a druid: you will find that they fight just as much like warriors as magi. Warpnow
Oh definitely...if a healer and a druid were DETERMINED to kill each other(which would require some MAJOR rp turns...) then the druid would have the avantage, but it would be one slow fight...and I don't think a well played healer would die, so much as be forced to flee alot... Healers posess more raw healing power than druids, as well as the ability to sustain mana at a higher rate than any other clss. Druids posess the power to do more damage than a healer can dream of, because their powerhouse spell divine retribution doesn't do **** to a druid. Druids have an advantage in a fight that should seldom take place, and even more seldom end in death, because they are two classes that are so amazing hard to kill. Course, Rp wise I can't see an average druid hating an average healer. Druids love the life of the forest. Healers love ALL life. Druids heal the life of the forest. Healers heal ALL life. Druids work to end the death of the forest. Healers work to end ALL death. Druids hate undead and demons. Healers make it their life goals to SLAY ALL undead...and until recently, demons...but they still don't like 'em!
wolfeman
Course' date=' Rp wise I can't see an average druid hating an average healer.[/quote'] Because druids love everything that is in nature, and ressurection is as unnatural as undeath. Chayesh
Because druids love everything that is in nature' date=' and ressurection is as unnatural as undeath.[/quote'] To expand on that, you could also say they love the death of the forest as much as they love the life of the forest as they almost believe in a nature version of the Cycle; that is to say, it is natural for things to live and die of natural causes within nature. That's why the Watchers and Eshaine have a beef with the cities. They intrude and kill nature unnaturally.
