mya
Depends on rolls. Lets use the Invockers case. I ranked a Human and a Elven one. Elf at 50: 515 HP 1086 Mana Human at 50: 615 HP 872 Mana If you train the human as the elf, 1 prac per skill/spell, you have 15 trains at 50 left. So you can end up with a: Elf: 665 HP 1086 Mana Human: 665 HP 1072 Mana The diference is + 14 Mana on the elf. Not that much. So the real diference is if: Elf autosneak + 500 XPpen > 0 XPpen + extreme slower training + best PK range

The Forsaken
Wow Savnt....what'd Poplin do to you to get you all wound up? I'm not saying this to inflate my own ego, but more or less to defend myself? Yeah...Acati and I rocked the house back in the day. And yeah, I killed some low level people. However, I killed low level people with bounties, and only when no pinns had bounties. If I was infact what you claimed me to be, why would I ever be allowed Leader of Syndicate? (Non-coup Leadership). Or even a PK related title? I'm kind of sure I didn't get that from killing 42's over and over again. :/ There were two people I never got (that mattered. ) Shendy and Elloran (or another one of Dev's elf bmages that I hated). The fact of the matter (and it actually goes against my skill rather than for it) is that I was cleaning up the pk range not because of how 'leet' I was, but because of back then, no one knew how to fight a battlemage. And I mean almost no one. If I rolled another bmage I wouldn't get near as far as I did then, because people have gotten smarter. (Go people!) So seriously...I really enjoyed that character, so please refrain from bashing it. : )

I always ran like hell when you came, and I remember sending you off at pretty hurt/awful once, I was so proud, hehe. Was such a noob back then. Pieman
I'm too lazy to read this entire thread, but to anyone who thinks human casters are gimps, go fight Thicil and then be humbled as I was.
TheNewGuy
Or, be happy that the dood plays a human. Imagine if Thicil was a farie! *shiver*
Tantangel
Not sure if it'd make a difference. As long as you have the mana for it, you can get a fully charged staff and if you have the HP, you can stand the damage. I don't think Humans would make a gimp mage ever, they get magical bonuses I could've swore, so it might actually make them quite strong, just a pain in the *** to train/play. Thicil annoys me greatly in more ways than mere PK.
TheNewGuy
Just autosneak in itself is enough to make faeries more painful than humans. And doesn't faerie get some caster bonus? Or do they only master spells quick?
zionpsyfer
Fae casters are cool and all.... but the very low hp at pinn isn't worth it imho. Years and years ago I had a fae 'voker. At 50 he had something like 460 hp (that was with a bunch of HP trains). Towards the end when his con had gone down his base was like 300 something. Granted his charged staffs pwned, but I still don't think it was a fair trade off.
TheNewGuy
Dude, you don't lose base hp when you lose con. And you should get more than 460 hp with trains, unless you had a bad roll AND picked a perk you shouldn't have. I have a pre-pinn fae voker with about 400 base hp. If I pinn and use trains for hp, I'd end up with about 550-600.
Tantangel
As far as I could tell with a Faerie they get a bonus to mana gain, much like Ogres with HP gains. Not sure if they get a bonus with mana regen though. Their autofly and autosneak is nice for just about anyone, but their low HP is more than enough to annoy me. Their high wis/int makes training really easy, but as far as magic bonus, I'm not sure. I know they don't get faerie fog/fire and can't be faerie fire/fogged which makes them good for a thief. Other than that though I think that's about all their bonuses, but then again I've never fully tested out the race or any of its classes because I could never get over their low HP and decided to go Gnome Invoker/BMG instead. L-A
I'm too lazy to read this entire thread' date=' but to anyone who thinks human casters are gimps, go fight Thicil and then be humbled as I was.[/quote'] Clearly, tts all in the execution. Human's can be played sucessfully. So can elf and drow. THere are advantages and disadvantages to both. Thicil (if he's still wearing what I saw him in) is not just decked, he is SUPER decked. If he can't burn people to a crisp in a suit like that there is a severe issue - and its not with the class he's playing. I've fought him too. It wasn't me who died. Invokers are a pain to kill until you learn how to do it. Then they become only moderately dangerous as they are one of the few classes who can pop up and toast you in record time if you're caught with your pants down. J.Twendrist
Especialy if the one being caught by the voker with his pants down is an ogre.
Zrothum
But if you catch the Invoker before he's coming after you, as an Ogre, and you know what you're doing, it will be HIS corpse on the ground.
Tantangel
Yeah, but assuming you catch anyone with their pants down and around their ankles they're going to either enjoy it or hate it anyways. Not many people can actually survive those kinds of attacks, and hell not even the best of us can survive every single one of those instances no matter how hard you try. I've been caught with my pants down around my ankles before on numerous occasions and I find it hard to survive sometimes and other times very easy to get away, it just depends on the person. What sucks though is when you catch someone like that and you screw up in some small way and end up letting them get away and then they come back to whoop your ***. Celerity
Yeah, having fought Thicil a bit recently, I think he would be much, much tougher as a faerie (or even elf)... well..we'll see which subcabal he chooses, hehe
Tantangel
He's already chosen his subcabal. He lived in the game for those first 20 hours it seemed like.
Celerity
well, in that case, eventually I'll see which subcabal he chooses if he goes the obvious route, I think I won't be able to fight him nearly as well anymore
Tantangel
Depends on your class I suppose. I haven't seen him on though in over a day which doesn't mean much, but I'm sure you'll find out which soon enough.
zionpsyfer
TheNewGuy - You're correct.. foot A into mount B. Excuse the mead induced stupidity. I'll have to check around for old logs to make sure, but his base HP was VERY low. That was my first and I believe I had put all my trains in to mana (yeah, I know...). I suppose that knowing what I know now, I should try one again and form an informed opinion on them. Especially before offering comments. Thanks for the reality check.
