mya
You are telling me your faerie can pull more HP's base than my avian and elf vocker ? Dam why did i go elf.
Tantangel
That was my thought as well, Mya. He has more base HP and mana than Egui did, might have to suffer the low con and such sometime in the future and make a BMG or Invoker.
Ex-D&Der
I thought you did lose HP when you lost con--unless this was changed?
TheNewGuy
Ehm, no. I might not know everything, but this one, I am damn sure about.
Ex-D&Der
When you do you get the message, "you feel less healthy." Always a nice little cherry on top when you've just died.
Tantangel
No you heal slower with every drop of con, your base HP never drops though.
TheNewGuy
That message means you lost a con point. No hp though.
Ex-D&Der
Well I've definitely lost HP in the past. Maybe it was changed.
BigMac
Well I've definitely lost HP in the past. Maybe it was changed. I think you're just confused, but it can easily be explained with a lesson in the chronological order of things FIRST you lose HP Then you die Then you die 3 more times Then you lose con base stays the same
Tantangel
Actually you'd have to die four more times after the first time to lose the con. Every five deaths and you lose a con, every ten deaths and you drop down to a different condition. Basically lose HP to die, die 5 times and you lose a con, losing con makes it harder to heal up, base HP always stays the same. Now if you had EQ that was +HP and you lost it after you died, I guess I could see as you losing HP because of that, but you could easily gain it back by getting back the same EQ you had before or getting more +HP gear to bump it up even higher. BigMac
I thought it was every 4 times.
TheNewGuy
every fifth. If you die often enough, though, it will feel like it is more
Ex-D&Der
No I don't think it's that it was gear, but then again, maybe it was. Also I kind of noticed HP going down before I died, but thanks for the insight.
mattrious
Are human necromancers viable? Was just curious if it's a combo that could compete at pinn. - Matt.
Tantangel
I wouldn't recommend playing a Necro to a newer player, but I believe they're perfectly viable at 50. They'd be a little more reliable on Zombies I think more than an Illithid or Drow, but a Human Necro might be a little more Newbie friendly since there's a 0 exp penalty. And if you go a certain religion, you have the option of going Undead before going passed lvl 30 or getting Lich once you hit 50.
L-A
You're best bet is to play something that you want to play. Have some fun. If you're going to do a mage, pick one that sounds cool and go with that. The truth is - no matter what you play, no matter how survivable it is you are going to die sometime. If you pick something that is fun you will have a LOT more enjoyment while playing. Trust me - I've played 'power' race/class/cabal combo's that were never fun and they never do as well as anything I've rolled that I really wanted to play becaue it was cool If you want to be a necro, be a necro. Rank up, ask people how you can kill others - they will tell you. Make some friends, ask about what things you should wear - people will help you. I found the best way (esp once you get to lvl 50) is to get a group and ask to take you and get something that will help you. THen get something for them. Then something for them and so on.. If you watch carefully (and use a client than can log) you will learn fairly quickly how to get some pretty nifty equipment. PK just takes time - if you want to be good at it just start killing people. It doesn't matter if you die - we all die. Hell, I died just the other day and I've been playing here for years. The best thing you can ever do is just play things that are fun - and if things get stressful and don't go your way just log off. Don't delete your characters, just log off, cool down and remember why it was fun to play. The fun will come back. Cheers, L-A
TheNewGuy
True to some extent. There are some combos new players just shouldn't even try. Evil thieves for example. Why? A thief has no friends. And it is easier to learn things, to get help, to have questions answered etc, if you have IG friends.
Grumpy
Anyhow if you're new at any class and especially at new to FL. Try to get a feel for combat before you reach 50. Follow Viri's advice: pk at 30 until you can get a kill, then move up five ranks and try do that again all the way to 50. Being a necromancer is actually not too bad, you get a big power spike at around 32 (I think).
