KRins
I've been pretty strictly melee, and I want to see just how amazing all those spells can be. Which class should I go with to learn the ropes?

KRins
Hmm...Anything else? I think FG cleric is probably not the easiest combo in the world.
English lad
If its a learner you probably want to go something with low exp cost i guess. Human Discord Cleric = no need to worry about equip to much, Very easy ranking and decent power peak. That said this is a very survival character, and I know that i got my butt handed to me and deleted quickly when I tried to play an invoker after this, as I was just to used to having the safety-net of cure critical. If its learning to play a caster in terms of spells and damage output, an invoker might be harder at first, but be the better for the learning experience. Hell go human and if you get a real feel for it you can apply for Lich
Guest emp_newb
Drow/elf cleric/healer Easiest to survive with I from all stand points.
L-A
Do an evil - you'll actually be able to enjoy yourself. Clerics is more straight forward than a shaman. I'd say do a drow/human for ease, or a duergar if you're a bit more confident, they are a lot of fun :-D L-A

Questioner
Batlemage can be fun once you learn to handle all of the spells.

random_clown
Pick whatever C/C you had the most trouble fighting, and live the other side. If you don't like it, no loss. You will have learned a great deal about the class that troubles and can use that information to improve your overall skill.
Hegemon
Drow Cleric. Discord. Attack everything except for key allies you'll want for EQ Runs. You'll be quite well recieved, as an Evil Cleric. Try saves/hp/AC first off, when you are playing the more "caster" side of a Cleric, then when you are more confident go for pure hit/dam. Know however that some battles you simply cannot win in melee, and vary your strategy accordingly.
KRins
I love BLMs, since I have about 20 hours a day of free time. Rangers are fun...sometimes.
Evangelion
I love BLMs' date=' since I have about 20 hours a day of free time. Especially for someone who plays a lot of melees - good defensive and offensive capability, and they're around the same level of complexity as blademasters/monks.
